SEAP Information Submitted by Dena Wagner-Fossen
In October 19987, the Student Senate approved the creation of the Student Emergency Assistance Program. The goal was to provide emergency assistance to students and to aid them in contacting other resources in the Great Falls area. The main purpose is to prevent students from dropping out of school because of temporary financial difficulties. SEAP defines an emergency as an endangering combination of circumstances that is unforeseeable, unavoidable and unsolvable through other means that calls for IMMEDIATE action. The forms are currently located in the Library, at the Student Central Information Desk and at the College's Help Desks. (If you run low on forms, please e-mail seap@msugf.edu ) The applications are asked to be returned to the Student Central Information Desk. Once an application is received in the sealed envelope, it should be placed in the SEAP mailbox in the mailroom. Then an e-mail should be sent to seap@msugf.edu saying an application has arrived. This will trigger the processes by our committee. Timing is very important as the committee as a certain number of hours to respond to the requests. The budget for SEAP is maintained by the Associated Student's treasurer and the committee members (who are confidential) are the deciding body for SEAP. SEAP has also sponsored a holiday giving tree and other holiday events in the past. |
