Campus Fun this Week
Submitted by Judy Hay
Come one, come all!
First is a recitation of Edgar Allan Poe's The Raven, performed by Margie McClellan, who works for the Great Falls Public Schools at the Paris Gibson Education Center. Her presentation includes some background information on Poe, and a full recitation from memory of the story. Come take this in at 11:30 on Tuesday, October 27 in the Atrium!
Bring your families to the annual Harvest Fest in Heritage Hall! This fun family event is put on each fall by our own Associated Students of MSU-GF, and promises to be tons of fun. They have planned for food (yep, bring the family for dinner!), games for all ages, costume contest, prizes, and live entertainment! The fun starts at 4 pm and goes until 7 pm. It is free! |
Food Drive! Submitted by Judy Hay
On behalf of the 60 students we have on our campus who are Americorps Campus Corps Volunteers, I urge you to help out with their Food Drive for the local Food Bank. Our students have asked for food barrels to be placed around campus for a week to give us all a chance to bring in non-perishable food items to help provide food that many in our community need. The barrels will remain on campus until next Friday, October 30. This effort is part of our students' work with Americorps that helps them accomplish the service goals for their year of service. These 60 students span many of our health care fields, plus our trades programs. The students are interested in helping our community make sure no one goes without food. Let's help them out! Thank you for anything you can contribute. | |

They will also be presenting appreciative gifts to the Respiratory Care staff at Benefis Healthcare! |
MDHA Annual Meeting and Student Poster Presentation
Submitted by Kim Woloszyn
The Class of 2010 Dental Hygiene students did Poster Presentations at the Montana Dental Hygiene Association (MDHA) Annual Meeting in Missoula on September 24-26. The eight topics presented by the students included wide variety of hot dental topics that were very applicable to current practicing dental professionals. Sara Noonan and Renee Parsley (Autism) received first place; Erica Hagen and Bree Bishop (Perioscopy) received second place; and Rachel Hansen and Jaci Akey (GERD) received third place after being judged by a select group of practicing dental hygienists and members of MDHA.
Fred Van de Pierre owner of Paradise Dental Technologies presented the winners with plaques and has committed to funding the first place winners to travel to the American Dental Hygiene Association (ADHA) meeting in Las Vegas in June to present their poster nationally.
Please come down to the dental area close to R173 and R172 to see the beautiful posters the students' developed and presented. They did a wonderful job and represented the MSU - Great Falls Dental Hygiene program very well.
