National Tutoring Week Submitted by Delisa Clampitt
National Tutoring Week is celebrated the first week of October each year. This week is designated to recognizing tutors and their dedication to students. The Learning Center will be celebrating this year in several ways. All week, there will be a "Wall of Thanks" posted outside of the Learning Center that will allow you to write a personal note to the staff. On Wednesday, there will be an Open House and coffee will be provided by the Cottage Bookstore. Door prize drawings will be held all week. And, the tutors will finish out the week with a Wii tournament and pot luck on Friday evening. Please stop by, thank a tutor, and see why the Learning Center is a great place for students! |

A note received by Lynn Ward, Director of HIT/HICS, from soon-to-be graduate, Nadine Ocker. "I want to take a moment to thank you again, for all you have done for me and all you have taught me - I wouldn't be where I am now were it not for you! You will probably never truly know the impact you have had on my life, but I always will. I hope you know you have made a difference, you are appreciated, and you are an awesome teacher. You are one of those people that I (and others) will not forget. I hope to get a chance to meet you face to face one day, and wish somehow there was a way to repay you for everything and to thank you enough!" Talent on Staff

Cast Your Vote for Dental Hygiene Students Submitted by DH student, Rachel Hansen
I brought the idea to enter a YouTube contest being hosted by ADHA/Sunstar to our class meeting and the class voted that this was something fun that we could do as a group. A committee was formed of 4 members and ideas were being thrown out about possible ideas and the Wizard of Oz theme was formed. After the script was written, we contacted Linda Piccolo from Boulder, MT because she had costumes and a theater. She agreed that we could come to Boulder for a day to make the video and use anything we needed of hers. After this was in place, we picked people parts and also found a kindergartner in Boulder to help out with the production. In July, 13 of our 16 class members headed to Boulder to cast the play. Since the submission was not due until August 1st and we were out of school the 23rd, Rachel called back home in Chinook to find a computer with a program that could edit the video and piece it together with various scene breaks and music add ins where needed; which brings us up to where we are now with it having been submitted and now waiting for the public to vote on the winner! Also, October is National Dental Hygiene month and we are planning as a SADHA group to send oral hygiene bags over to the troops, so any donations towards this would be great. Feel free to email me, Rachel Hansen, Class/SADHA president and let me know if you could help or call the school dental office and speak with Melanie! |
Thanks A Latte
Would you like a free latte? If so, donate $5 or more to the United Way campaign and you will receive a gift card for one free latte at the Bookstore. Don't worry if you have already donated, you will still received a card. Dean Schaffer, along with the bookstore, are offering this as an extra incentive to give this year. It is the Dean's way of saying 'Thanks!' Don't forget to turn in your pledge forms to Scott Karaffa to receive your free latte and to be entered into the prize drawing. |
