What's Improved?
There are several new improvements to the site. Below are just a few:
- Ease of Navigation
We had three roles we needed to think about when creating this site: student, employee and public. In doing so, we had to make it easy to navigate for all.
- Look and Feel
The design was originally created by our Summer 2008 intern Jeffrey Paul. He used a color theme that was representative of our college: progressive. You'll find the site is easy on the eyes and very inviting.
We are also very excited about the fact that 90% of photos on the site are of our own campus community.
- Web Standards and 508 Accessibility
The web standards of today are very different than what they were 5 years ago, so this was at the top of our list to address. We focused on a complete CSS driven design. 508 Accessibility requirements were implemented. For example, each link on a site now needs to have a "title" attached to it. This means when you roll over a link it will pop-up with a title or hint of where that link is going to take you. There were over 5,000 links in our site....each with a title tag.
- Directory
We're most excited about this enhanced feature. The Directory now has a "Quick Search" attached to it. You can search by first name, last name or even by department and get your results using this feature. It's quick and easy. It includes the main campus community as well as all our Bozeman, Online and Adjunct Faculty. It's quite impressive...give it a whirl when you get a chance.
