Campus Emergency Training
Scenario - A Shooter on Campus
Campus Emergency Training: Scenario - Shooter on Campus
To better prepare us for emergencies on our campus, the Crisis Planning Team is offering periodic training to our employees. Scott Karaffa has engaged Sergeant John Schaffer and his officers from the Great Falls Police Department to prepare us to respond properly to violence in our workplace. The training will deal specifically with a shooter on campus.  The training will take place from 9 am to 1 pm on Friday, August 29 in Room B101. The presentation will be interesting and interactive. John and his officers are very approachable and are looking forward to working with us.  The information presented will be critical to your safety as well as the safety of your co-workers and students in case of this type of emergency. Please plan to attend.

An overview:  If you were a witness to a shooting at MSU - Great Falls, you would call 9-1-1 immediately. Dispatch will engage you in conversation. You would be asked for a description of the shooter and their location. The Police Department will send three police officers immediately. They will enter the campus through three separate entrances based on the information you gave on the 9-1-1 call. From that point on, they will be in charge of the emergency response to the incident and the campus Crisis Team will support their efforts.
MSUGF Alert!
Our new Emergency Notification System
The MSU campuses have partnered to invest in a robust emergency alert system that will send an immediate text message to all subscribers' cell phones, email addresses and/or other text-enabled devices. You may subscribe immediately at https://www.mir3.com/msu/    An awareness campaign will start shortly to encourage all students, faculty and staff to subscribe. ONLY EMERGENCY MESSAGES will be sent via this system.
Wind Technician Program Explored
MSU - Great Falls is currently contracting out for a feasibility study to explore plans to erect a wind turbine on campus. The College plans to hire a position to develop the Industrial Trades / Wind Technician program curriculum. Companies involved in regional wind energy projects, local government, and economic development agencies have voiced their support of this program.
Staff2Employee Picnic
In appreciation of the hard work of classified and professional staff, the college's administrative team hosted a picnic in the new plaza outside the Atrium. The day was beautiful, the company was great, and the food couldn't have been better.
