Changes in Physical Therapist Assistant Program
Submitted by Andrea Johnson, MS, PT The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Program has undergone some significant faculty changes recently. Stephanie Wetmore, PT, MS resigned her full-time teaching position, but remains on as an adjunct. She and her family have moved near Park City, MT. Her husband Mike has begun employment as the Chief Flight Instructor at Rocky Mountain College Aviation Program. This will allow Stephanie to spend more time completing her dissertation for her PhD. She has accepted a clinical physical therapist position in nearby Columbus. Stephanie is an excellent instructor and will be greatly missed by the PTA Program.
As the faculty position became available, a search for a new, highly qualified instructor began. The PTA Program has found Charlene Marshall, BS, PTA. Charlene has been practicing as a Physical Therapist Assistant at Benefis Healthcare in Great Falls for the last three years. She has also been a clinical instructor to PTA Students in the past. Prior to coming to Montana, Charlene worked clinically as a PTA in Wisconsin. She has practiced in many different clinical settings and is a well-rounded Physical Therapist Assistant. Charlene earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from the University of Minnesota in 1999 and her Associate of Science Degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant from Northeast Wisconsin Technical College in 2003. Charlene will take on the role as PTA faculty and as the Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education (ACCE) for the PTA Program. Charlene will be a welcome addition to the PTA Program Faculty as she is enthusiastic, dependable, organized, positive, and flexible. |

Peffer Graduate Research Published
Submitted by Roger Peffer Over the summer Roger Peffer, along with his Graduate Advisors, published some of his graduate research in the journal, Northwest Science. The title of the article is "Riparian and Upland Small Mammals on the East Slope of the Cascade Range, Washington." It was basically a study of the small mammals inhabiting stream corridors and comparing them with the mammals in the forests adjacent to those streams. Extensive research had been done on west slope forests of the Cascades but this was the first major study of east-slope small mammal communities. You can check out the article in Northwest Science, Vol 82, No.2, 2008 pp 94-107. |
