| 9-1-1 Emergency!
Aspiring police, fire and ambulance dispatchers can take advantage of a new program that will prepare them for rewarding and well-paying jobs. The Public Safety Communications Professional Certification program, offered through the Outreach & Workforce Development Department, consists of five public safety communications courses, plus computer and interpersonal communications classes offered in a mixture of online and on-site (evening and weekend) offerings. This high-demand field is projected to increase and the wage range is between $11-15 per hour. For more information call Natalie Nefzger at 406-771-5132. Registration is now open and classes begin September 2. The Public Safety Communications Professional Certification program was designed to assist emergency dispatchers, who are required to complete training and take a test at the Montana Law Enforcement Academy within a year of being hired. Those who take the course before applying for a public safety communications professional job may have an advantage over those who enter the workforce without the credential. The program development was a joint effort by the Great Falls Police Department, MSU - Great Falls, and the Public Safety Officer Standards and Training Council (POST).

| Talent Search Campus Visit
Submitted by Natalie Nefzger
We were delighted to host Talent Search on June 10. The group was from Browning and they brought a mix of Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors. The goal of Talent Search is to introduce high school students to the possibility of college and other positive opportunities after high school. We started off with a scavenger hunt to help them learn the campus and see that even as a college student, you still need to ask for help and directions. Sheila Bonnand helped the students complete a portion of the scavenger hunt by accessing the Library website. The Help Desk also assisted in the hunt as a stop for students to grab a business card and head off to their next scavenger item.
The afternoon wouldn't be complete without a visit from Marty Foxman who stretched their minds and challenged them to set realistic goals and re-evaluate those goals if they didn't work. They completed three structured learning activities and each time they learned something new about themselves and what they could achieve.
One of the highlights for Marty was seeing his work with the EOC office come full circle. There were three chaperones for the group and two had sought Marty's guidance 15 years ago. These two young men had completed college degrees and were able to use their success to work in jobs they loved. To add to their success stories, both men had taken classes on our campus before transferring to four years campuses.
Thank you to everyone who helped make the Talent Search visit a success. We have a great campus to share with many groups and individuals but the truth is that our staff and faculty are the reason students come back!
