More Shows

We've now completed our spring shows which this year took us all over Ontario and even to Quebec.  We hope we got to see you!  Watch for us in the fall: We will be at the Knitters Fair in Kitchener, OHS Central Region in Alliston, the Spin-in in Campbellford, Creative Festival in Toronto and the Ottawa Weavers & Spinners Guild Show in Ottawa.   We can bring products for you thus eliminating shipping costs and details are on the website.

 Rose Haven signGreetings!
At last Rose Haven has our long wanted online email newsletter.  Some of you who receive this newsletter will have been former clients of the Farm, B & B, Cottage, shop, fibres, lamb, workshops -- the myriad things we try to do.  We hope you will enjoy being updated on what we now offer and will be pleased with our evolution.  No more sheep but still a sheepie theme and lots of wonderful opportunities to enjoy the fibre arts and the County of Prince Edward.  Please note below you are welcome to pass our newsletter info to others or to unsubscribe.

 Tilli TomasIncreased Product Lines
Over the winter and spring we have increased our product lines and now carry Tilli Tomas, Artyarns, Jade Sapphire, Habu & can custom order from these. Our newest product is Fibre-Isle's Niji, soon to be known as Louet's Mooii, a lace yarn to die for! These yarns are on our Website Yarn Price List.

Now that we are a full-fledged shop we endeavour to offer you good shop hours.  Starting on the July long weekend, we are open for the summer Monday - Saturday 11 - 6, and Sunday 11 - 4.  You can also reach us by phone at 613-476-9092 or leave us a message.

Lamb products are now in stock.  Back are lamb pies while now is the time to pick up BBQ cuts such as butterfly legs.  Our lamb is County produced by Tracy & Garry Smith from their Kahtadin flock.

Since late last year we have added new gift products: Garneau Sheepskin slippers - the best in Canada!, sheepskin mitts and hats from Winnipeg and now the delightful Lantern Moon fair trade palm woven summer bags - great for beach or knitting projects.

We have also added new fibres and special items for fibre artists: unusual handspun yarns from LaLana in Taos New Mexico; new hand-dyed soy & bamboo packs from Pat's Colours, hand reeled tropical plant dyed Bombyx silk (625 m.) from Laos - great for plying or embellishment, ribbon packs offering an assortment of 3 - 4 types of ribbon in over 10 different colourways - good for quilters, fibre artists, weavers and knitters needing only a touch of ribbon and even fisherman's net yarn from Habu!

WFelting Workshoporkshops
Our Spring Felting workshops were very successful. To follow-up we are offering more Felting workshops September 26-28 and if we have enough persons possible a gossamer or heavier felted scarf workshop in August just after the Long weekend.  Please check the website for details.  We have also scheduled a workshop for those who have always wanted to learn to spin.  The simplest and most affordable way is to learn the drop spindle.  Lorraine Smith will be at Rose Haven on August 23 for a class in drop & support spindling and blending.  Lorraine is a very dynamic fun young teacher whose enthusiasm is contagious.  Register soon.

Otherwise, enjoy the summer and come to Prince Edward for a little R & R, stroll the Sandbanks beach, sip the wine, revel in the jazz and visit Rose Haven Farm Store for your fibre pleasures.  We look forward to welcoming you!

Mirasol ChildrenA Spiritual Time Out in Peru
Linda was very fortunate in March and April of this year to fulfill her dream to bask in the spiritual splendour of Machu Pichu in Peru.  But besides the spectacular scenery, she also got to visit Malkini Ranch, courtesy of the Michel Group in Arequipa (a major Peruvian yarn processing mill).  Malkini is a wonderful high altitude alpaca ranch and is the setting for the Mirasol Project School for the children of the alpaca shepherds.  No longer are the children required to walk 3 hours each way to school or more likely not to attend school at all, this delightful new building is the pride of this community. Buildings are critical but books are also necessary, so we came bearing a small collection of Spanish books of which the dictionary was most welcome.  Rose Haven would like to offer a fund raising opportunity for us and our clientele to continue this good work by raising money for more book purchases.  Details in later letters.
