Monthly Program - October 18

Bob Berkebile: WHAT'S NEXT for Green Building?

Referred to as the Godfather of Green Building, Berkebile
is a national leader in the green building movement

In partnership with American Institute of Architects-St. Louis

Bob BerkebileAs an architect for 45 years, Bob Berkebile, FAIA, is recognized repeatedly for outstanding sustainable design. He describes the next stage of green building design and construction as "regenerative" where buildings give back. Regenerative buildings produce more energy and water than they use and manage all waste on site.

Join us on October 18 to listen to Berkebile share his views on what's next for green building and the LEED Green Building Rating System, as well as what tools and resources are most beneficial when pursuing regenerative design and construction. Living Buildings, One Planet Community, and REGEN, USGBC's tool to move beyond LEED Platinum, will be discussed.

10 YearTen years ago, Berkebile was the keynoter at USGBC-Missouri Gateway's first meeting. Bringing Berkebile back to help celebrate our 10 Year Anniversary, we look forward to what's next for green building and the organization. In celebration, attendees will receive a special 10 Year Anniversary report highlighting the Chapter's past accomplishments and future plans.

Insulation Technologies

Of all the options that can be executed in the name of energy efficiency, insulation is probably at the top of the list. For new construction projects, it's a choice that can make or break a home's targeted energy performance.

This seminar will present several favorite insulation options based on newest technologies. Options reviewed will begin with the big picture - Whole Building Insulation such as Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) or Insulated Concrete Forms (ICFs).  Then the discussion will move to a focus on other localized insulation choices, keeping an eye on proper application.
