Missouri Solar Energy Industries Association offers training and more

December 7 High Performance building session speakersMissouri Solar Energy Industries Association's (MOSEIA) mission is to strengthen and expand the solar industry and establish a sustainable energy future for all Missourians. Our goal is to accelerate the solar industry in Missouri while raising industry standards. MOSEIA members are required to sign a Code of Ethics vowing to conduct their business with the utmost integrity.
MOSIEA actively promotes policy issues such as Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) and Proposition C, which mandates that 15% of electricity produced by Missouri investor owned utilities must be sourced from renewables by 2021. Policy issues require constant monitoring, so we keep our members updated and empower them with advocacy tactics.

Throughout the year, MOSEIA provides training opportunities for members and non-members. Most training qualifies for North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) credit - required for Certified Solar PV Installer Certification. MOSEIA members receive training discounts. Upcoming trainings include:
  • Professional Solar Training with SunWize Technologies on August 5 & 6 in St. Louis, MO
  • Basic Solar Hot Water Workshop on September 16 & 17 in Hermann, MO
Save the date for MOSEIA's annual meeting on January 21 and 22 in Columbia, MO. Highlights include exhibitor space, networking opportunities and a one-day intensive code training with Bill Brooks from the Solar Living Institute. Visit www.moseia.org for events and membership information.

USGBC - St. Louis Regional & MIssouri Heartland Chapters Merger approved - seeking Ozarks Branch Liaison!

Have you heard?  USGBC-STL is on its way to becoming a statewide chapter that will cover southern Illinois and westward through Missouri to a common boundary with the Central Plains Chapter that serves the Kansas City metropolitan area. As a statewide chapter, we'll begin to form branches as various parts of the chapter organize. Leadership of the Missouri Heartland Chapter have stepped forward to form the Ozarks Branch which will serve the Springfield area. The Missouri Heartland Chapter will dissolve as we go statewide and Ozarks Branch is born.

We are seeking candidates who have interest in serving in an appointed capacity to act as liaison to the Ozarks Branch. The primary responsibility of this volunteer position is to support high quality and dependable communication between the Chapter Board, staff, and committee leadership and the Branch leadership. If you have interest in exploring this volunteer opportunity, contact Pat Justis, Past USGBC-STL Board Chair, at 314-554-4301 or [email protected].

Look for more info about the merger soon!
Building Performance Partnership - current LEED certified projects can participate
In an effort to optimize the performance of buildings, USGBC has launched the Building Performance Partnership which will help us better understand how buildings perform from the moment of LEED certification and years beyond

Participation of current LEED-certified buildings is voluntary. Current projects - regardless of their rating system version - are invited to take part in the Building Performance Partnership. LEED buildings that participate are eligible for annual performance reports, report cards and real-time data interfaces to aid in their building performance goals.

Currently more than 120 projects are participating in Phase One. These projects will receive a basic performance report in time for Greenbuild 2010 in Chicago this November.

For more information or to participate, visit www.usgbc.org/bpp
