Meet Your New Neighbor

The experience of waiting is changing, and Neighbor is changing too.

The new Neighbor now has components to create an even broader range of applications. Your new Neighbor is also more comfortable with improved seat comfort - including changes to the seat height and depth as well as an improved back angle. You will recognize your new Neighbor but also see how much just a few changes can make to the overall appearance of this one-of-a-kind seating product. New sales and marketing materials are being created and will be available in August.

FOE was Monday, June 18, 2012 and FS will be end of July. If you have any questions, please e-mail Joanie Hughes or Mary Juhlin.

Pocket Wins Core77 Design Award

Nurture has earned a Notable Award for Pocket in the 2012 Core77 design competition. C77 is one of the most competitive fields in global design and the success of Pocket places Nurture in the company of other, well-known design leaders.

This year's competition was based in 13 cities, in 8 countries with 20 expert juries assigned to the 17 award categories. This is the same award the Steelcase Node chair won last year.

Big Win in the Bronx

Robin Maddalena, Nurture AHM in the New York City market, has had a working relationship with the decision makers at Lincoln Hospital in the Bronx for years. The Director of Facilities and Emergency Department Nurse Manager  and Medical Director were the primary players from Lincoln, while Robin, with the help of Empire Office's Erv Roberson, VP Healthcare and Pamela Markano, Account Manager and the architect Perkins Eastman, worked with them on a $500,000 project that included SYNC, Folio, Montage,  Seating and 24 Empath recliners.

Lincoln Hospital is one of the largest trauma centers in NY and part of the NYC Health & Hospitals Corp Hospitals.  Lincoln's Emergency Department sees 150,000 patients annually in both Adult and Pediatric Departments. In short, it's an emergency department that is constantly full and chaotic. That played into the decision to use Montage in place of Sync for a few of the caregiver  stations. With so many family members and visitors milling around, they needed a larger privacy barrier to properly delineate areas that were for medical professionals only.

The key to this project's success was Robin's longstanding relationship and trust with the hospital's decision makers, as well as 2 visits to the NYC showroom to demonstrate Sync, whose innovative and unique solution to the caregiver's station Lincoln fell in love with. This project was originally split with several other competitors, but the Director of Facilities agreed to go fully with Nurture after viewing and testing the entirety of our product solutions.

The addition of Empath did not hurt either. Robin used a prototype to describe the insights and research that went into the product and after viewing, Lincoln ordered 24, 12 each for their pediatric and adult  Asthma Rooms of their Emergency Department. They particularly loved the pushbar on the back of the recliner, which, in conjunction with the easy to use central locking system, can make it easy to transport a patient without needing to transfer them back to another chair or bed. In an emergency department where patients coding are common occurrences, this is crucial. Most of the Nurture products will install in August, during Phase 1 of the remake of their Emergency Department.

Great Event at Perdue in Florida

Tidra Staples, Nurture AHM in Florida, and Ann Stine Sapp, a Nurture Independent Representative, recently hosted an event at Perdue, in Jacksonville, Florida. Perdue just opened a new Healthcare showroom which looks and feels like a true clinical space. The event was well attended by local A&D as well as clients. Eric Evans, Adam Thomas, Marie Jones & Meghan Shriver from Perdue were key in organizing the event and making it as successful as it was.

Tidra presented the Outpatient Care research as the CEU, and Ann, who helped greatly in organizing the event, presented the showroom tour over wine and cheese after the CEU. This showroom sends a strong message to the market about Perdue's commitment to healthcare and is going to be a great tool to increase clinical sales. A special thanks also goes out to Gaye Hanley & Vince McCormack for their vision and commitment to this event.
