Neocon 2011 In Review
Neocon 2011 has come and gone, and as always, it was a fantastic time, filled with enlightening healthcare conversations set against the backdrop of the beautiful Nurture showroom.
Here is a quick look at a few of the Nurture environments featured at NeoCon '11:
Today's healthcare work happens anywhere and everywhere. Caregivers are mobile workers and the technology that supports them also needs to be in motion. Visitors to the Nurture "Pocket Gallery" experienced firsthand how the new Pocket "Tablet" - Nurture's latest mobile worksurface - helps accommodate both the demands of the task at hand as well as emerging portable tablet technology like the iPad, Xoom and Playbook.
The caregiver station is the hub of activity for staff in any healthcare facility. Caregivers are constantly communicating, multitasking and improvising. Unlike enclosed spaces, most caregiver stations must balance communication with privacy protection. Collaboration between caregivers is increasing around electronic patient information and physicians are more and more frequently bringing their portable information devices to the "hub." Increasing the ease of staff interaction around sharing information and encouraging simple, frequent exchanges could also lead to reducing errors.
Nurture's Sync caregiver hubs allow for easy integration of mobile workers to join the conversation with the docking area. Sync's collaborative work-surface shape supports large groups with clear sight lines and allows staff to naturally gather together to share information. A docking station for the Pocket mobile surface supports the need as well for technology and power but also the social aspect of bringing the user back to the central hub for collaboration.
With today's team-based approach to care, the exchange of information among health professionals is more important than ever before. With staff shortages, remote connectivity is more prevalent than ever. Telepresence supports teaching interactions for residents or specialists sharing information. Eye-to-eye interaction on site is also important, because of the opportunity for mentoring during difficult decisions that require an environment removed from the hub of activity.
Nurture's "Immersion" staff-to-staff vignette presented a highly flexible environment conducive to the transfer of detailed information - either in person, or remotely - by ensuring that technology is correctly positioned for the most effective, human communication interactions. These and many more vignettes were highlighted in this year's Nurture NeoCon Showroom, with research-based, insights driving the design of each environment. Nashville Showroom Coming in 2013
Nurture has signed a multi-year lease agreement
for space in the new Nashville Medical Trade Center. Nurture will create a custom showroom on the 6th floor of the marketplace, anchoring the healthcare furnishings neighborhood. Opening in 2013, the Nashville Medical Trade Center is a 1.5 million square foot healthcare marketplace that unifies for the first time permanent showrooms, temporary exhibition space, and education and training facilities. The result will be a comprehensive global marketplace for health care products, solutions and services. We feel that being a cornerstone of this new, globally-focused healthcare marketplace is an important step towards the future of the Nurture brand and will fuel growth not only here in North America, but worldwide. This permanent showroom in Nashville will help Nurture reach an even wider audience with the vision to shape and improve the future of healthcare delivery.
