Fabric Updates

In the past Steelcase has supported many Designtex fabrics using a Steelcase 4-digit finish code. Beginning March 21, 2011, these finish codes will be eliminated and the fabrics should be ordered using the appropriate graded-in finish code from the Nurture Graded-In program .

The fabric grade and pricing for these fabrics will not change only the finish code required to specify. See the Surface Materials section of the Nurture spec guide for a list of patterns included in the graded-in program, the finish code needed to specify the fabric based on its grade, and complete instructions on ordering fabric using the Nurture Graded-in program.

First Installation of Tava
Tava

Burley, Idaho - Cassia Regional Medical Center in Burley, Idaho proudly features the first installation of Tava.  Cassia, a subsidiary of InterMountain Healthcare, selected Tava to play a key role in upgrading their front lobby space.  Nurture Area Healthcare Manager Megan Burraston worked with Stephanie Ennis of MWCI Utah and John Shell, the Support Service Manager of Cassia, to make this project a success.

John oversaw this project from start to finish, including the selection of Tava.  "Our facility is 16 years old.  We needed to do some repairs from every day wear and tear and update the lobby to create a warm and inviting atmosphere to welcome our patients and families," said John, "we want to provide them with a comfortable environment to make their visits as comfortable as possible."  Seven Tava single seat lounges and three Tava sofas combined with other Nurture products to create the warm and inviting atmosphere of Cassia's updated front lobby.

Tava's elegant design and durability made it the perfect fit for Cassia, as John describes - "We went with Nurture because we like the style and class that it would bring to the our hospital.  We feel that our lobby is our first impression, and the impression we want to project is one that is welcoming and caring. We want to give our patients a sense of warmth and comfort, while providing them with the best care possible."

Benefiting by Social Media

The increased presence and visibility of social media is transforming nearly every aspect of normal, everyday life. The business world has taken notice and the fast-moving, competitive healthcare industry is no exception. Having a strong, open relationship with a prospective client is a vital part of potentially winning that client's business, and there aren't many methods that are more efficient, effective, or cheaper than social media.

Jared MejeurJared Mejeur, a Nurture Sales Representative in Southern California, recently shared some of his experiences with social media and detailed its benefits to him and his business.

What social media platforms do you use, and what are the specific benefits to each?

I primarily use Twitter and to a lesser extent Facebook. It seems like everyone is on Twitter these days, from hospitals to architects to design firms. Many of the firms I subscribe to use Twitter to post announcements about their firms, or announce new projects they're working on. Then, later, when I'm meeting with them, I can offer congratulations on an award they've won if I saw it on Twitter, or mention something else they're working. Little nuggets like that can impress a client, especially when it's info not many other people know.

How do you use Twitter? On a smartphone? Do you have to be on it all day long? That seems time-consuming.

It's actually really simple. I have the Tweetdeck app on my iPhone, and I can glance at it throughout the day when I have a spare moment. Tweets come in real-time, so I can scroll through firms I follow to get an idea of what people are talking about that day. I pull my phone out while walking to a client meeting, in an elevator, places like that when I have a second to maybe glean an interesting piece of information. I feel like Twitter is a really easy way to keep your ear to the ground, so to speak, and keep tabs on what is happening in the world of healthcare.  You don't even have to be an active participant; just a recipient of the news that's coming in.
