New Nurture Business in Pennsylvania
Aspers, PA - Wellspan Health has been a good Steelcase client for a number of years, but the bulk of the sales came from the administrative side of the business, with clinical sales being very limited. The local Steelcase dealer, The Phillips Group in Middletown, PA, asked John Horn, Nurture Area Healthcare Manager, to introduce some of the new solutions Nurture had developed in an attempt to penetrate the clinical side of the house. The initial discussion with Wellspan's Bernie Lehmayer and her Interior Design and Project Management team focused around the future of nurse stations and the transformations taking place with technology. John presented Sync as a research-designed solution for the modern healthcare facility and soon thereafter, he was introduced to the architect responsible for the new Aspers Health Center. Aspers is the merging of two rural family practices into a more regionally-located facility to meet the needs of the community, and it will include a number of physicians using the space on dedicated days to meet the needs of a diverse patient base.
The architect from CORE Design, Randy Funk, worked with Amy Brightbill and Kirsten Kauffman from The Phillips Group, as well as John, to specify the space to include both centralized and decentralized Sync solutions. While the project management team was very interested in the Sync solution, the end users had yet to give their blessing, so John suggested they visit NeoCon East in Baltimore where Nurture displayed Sync in a number of settings. The show worked to build interest and the team from Phillips and John were invited to make a presentation to the practice director at Apers as well as Wellspan's IT director.
Michelle Bjorum, a Nurture interior designer, helped develop renderings of the proposed solution, and the presentation couldn't have gone better. The final step was to install a mock-up at a central location that would allow the end users to see how Sync was installed, allow the IT department to understand the requirements necessary, and to give a sense of space to the mocked-up unit. Soon after the mock-up presentation, Wellspan and The Phillips Group were discussing finishes and installations schedules. The Sync units, 11 in all, were installed in July and Wellspan asked if they could keep the mock-up as they would propose Sync for future projects as well.
