Designing the Perfect Health Care Clinic
Kaiser Permanente has undertaken a new project, in which they use a huge warehouse near Anaheim, CA, the Sydney R. Garfield Health Care Innovation Center, to create mocked-up exam rooms and run extensive test runs of typical clinic visits. They then can optimize their designs and planning for their various building projects. In these test scenarios they can test not only building and facility designs but also the merits and applications of new technologies. |

Nurture Exhibit at VHA Leadership Conference
Orlando, FL - VHA Inc., the national healthcare network, held its annual leadership conference from May 2-4 in Orlando, Fla. Approximately 1,300 people attended the conference, including 800 healthcare leaders from across the country representing C-suite and supply chain executives.
Conference highlights included provocative round-table policy and issue-based discussions with several highly regarded healthcare industry experts complemented by CEOs from VHA member organizations. One of the conference's distinguished panels included: Susan Dentzer, the editor-in-chief of Health Affairs, Mary R.Grealy, president of the Health Leadership Council, and Douglas Holtz-Eakin, a fellow at the Manhattan Institute's Center for Medical Progress and the former Director of the Congressional Budget Office under President George W. Bush.
Keynote speakers at this year's conference were T.R. Reid, foreign correspondent and author of "The Healing of America: A Global Quest for Better, Cheaper and Fairer Health Care," a comparison of global healthcare models and Bob and Lee Woodruff, authors of "Surviving Together, a Personal Journey," their account of reporter Bob Woodruff's recovery from the traumatic brain injury he sustained in a roadside bombing in Iraq.
"One goal of the Leadership Conference is to provide a forum for dialogue among executives that results in improving our members' ability to more effectively and efficiently manage their health care organizations," said Colleen Risk, executive vice president, Clinical Improvement Services at VHA.
Bill Coble (Nurture Area Healthcare Manager) hosted the Nurture exhibit, which featured Sync modular solutions. He spoke with customers from around the country who were in town for the conference, many of whom had already visited a Nurture regional showroom or had taken a trip to Grand Rapids. "A lot of the customers spoke very highly of their dealer service, and were excited about Nurture's future product offerings. They also identified strongly with the Nurture mission, of focusing on patients, caregivers, and partners in care," said Bill.
