Manhattan - Therapath, a specialty pathology laboratory that provides testing for epidermal nerve fiber density, has recently undergone a huge transformation by relocating and expanding their operations to mid-town Manhattan. Fueled by growth in business and the need to update their facilities and equipment, Therapath contacted BKM Total Office in Stamford, CT as they came highly recommended by a previous BKM client. That, along with the professional service provided by BKM Account Executive Tom Ianiri and his team, helped to keep this project from going out to bid.

 

Therapath is focused on developing tests and providing diagnostic services for physicians and patients in the field of neurological diseases. Their new 20,000 sq. ft. space needed to accommodate state-of-the-art equipment, as well as offer room to grow. In addition to the administrative portion of the space, BKM had to incorporate a Histology lab, and a Microbiology lab used for research. Handling the heat generated by the Cryostat's was another obstacle Tom's team had to face. These design challenges were met with creative solutions uniquely crafted for Therapath.

 

BKM designed the private offices with Currency, the workstations with Answer and Details, and an 8,000 sq. ft. lab using a blend of Steelcase Lab Bench and LabCrafters. Not only was the job on budget, it was also installed on-time. Retrofitting a lab bench into an older established building can prove difficult at times. Thanks to the design assistance offered by the Steelcase Lab Bench team, BKM was able to design a solution that thrilled the Therapath staff as they were able to maximize the floor-plan, and support all of the different postures the lab technicians required.
