New: YCD Computer Training Program:

In July 2011, YCD began offering computer training classes at the Bayview Hunters Point YMCA (1601 Lane Street). YCD's Computer Training will include training in the following areas: basic computer skills and literacy, basic Internet usage and skills for job search and Microsoft Functions (including Word, Excel and PowerPoint). Training is available Monday through Thursday from 4:00p.m.-7:00p.m. at the Bayview YMCA's Computer Lab (3^rd Floor). Drop-in training and computer assistance is also available at YCD (1715 Yosemite Avenue) all day on Fridays from 9:00a.m.-5:00p.m.

Training is available for San Francisco residents referred by the various One-Stops throughout the City and for all members of the community.

Students Will Achieve Great Goals (S.W.A.G.G.) Fest 2011:

As a continuation of YCD's Summer Academic Program (SAP) and in conjunction with the Southeast Neighborhoods Job Initiative (SNJI), identified SAP youth leaders have been planning a Students Will Achieve Great Goals (S.W.A.G.G.) Festival. The festival will take place on Tuesday August 9 from 1-4:00p.m. at UCSF's Mission Bay Campus. SAP youth planned the festival under the leadership of the SNJI staff. The festival will allow youth to come together and discus the issues and concerns they have for their communities and it will also allow them to productively communicate these concerns with adults and other community leaders. We hope you all come out and support this event which has been developed, planned and will be implemented by the youth.
