From the Minister...
|
One more month of summer! It's hard for me to believe that there's still another month left. I think it's been so warm that July seemed like August to me. I'm thrilled that there's still some time left before everything gets going once more.
One of the things that I look forward to each summer is our "Church by the Lake" service & picnic. Our worship last Sunday in the park was all about invitiation--inviting others to join us in some wonderful, audacious adventure. This is a perfect month to think about what audacious adventures we can begin together in this coming year.
I can't wait for you to tell me what you imagined during your daydreams in this last month of the summer--I'll certainly be ready to tell you come September. May August be filled with peace, abundance, laughter and all the best things of summertime!

Join us in offering Radical Hospitality...
| |
The hospitality team has openings for new volunteers! (Yes, again!) By ushering, handing out orders of services, and just saying hello, hospitality works to create a welcoming atmosphere for everyone who comes to 2U. It's a great way to get to know people, do your part for 2U, and put your spirituality into practice. For more information or to sign up, contact Ann and Nathan (hospitality@secondunitarian.org).

Hello all!
I just wanted to remind anybody who might be interested in volunteering that we are having another 2U TNM volunteer opportunity on Tuesday, August 7th, 2012.
We need volunteers for this day and would greatly appreciate all the help we can get. If you could spare a few hours on Tuesday, August 7th, 2012 from around 5pm-8pm (Prepping) or 7pm-11pm (Serving), it would be greatly appreciated.
If you are interested in prepping or serving, please email me.
Hopefully the weather will be nicer than it was last month.
Thanks! David Gutowsky

August 26th, 2-5pm
Unitarian Universalists for Social Justice will hold its Summer Quarter Meeting on Sunday, August 26, from 2 to 5 p.m., at the Unitarian Universalist Church of McHenry County, 5603 Bull Valley Rd., McHenry, IL 60050. The program, between 2 and 3 p.m., titled "Compassion has no Borders", will feature Sister Joann Persch and Sister Pat Murphy, who are with the Sisters of Mercy.
