Installation Art
What a wonderful day April 22nd was!

I cannot tell you how thankful I am for everyone's contributions and participation which made that Sunday afternoon a really powerful and gracious event. Our guests and visitors -- lay people and clergy alike -- told me how moved they were by our warmth, generosity, and obvious joy. The music offered by the choir and Marianne set a wonderful tone for the service. Our strong congregational presence was truly wonderful. I heard just about everyone mention how impressed they were with all your gifts of cooking, baking, and hospitality. The goal of the Installation Team was to have this be an event that reflected our community's gifts and the promise of a great future together; we certainly accomplished that! We were visited by over 20 area ministers, some returning to 2U after having served or been members here, and others visiting for the first time. There is no doubt that we are part of a wider community that is excited for our future and our collaboration with our neighboring congregations.

Our service of installation was the culmination of more than 2 years of work and exploration together. It's also the beginning of many more years to come. I can't help but note that a reality of life is part of this moment, too: living things grow and change. Vital congregations are always shifting and transforming with staff changes, membership growth, building maintenance, and new possibilities. The installation was, at least for me, a beautiful and meaningful pause in the flow of congregational life. I hope everyone is basking in the glow of a wonderful accomplishment and also looking forward to the worship, fellowship, and service that are coming up for us. This is only the beginning -- and I cannot wait to see what wonderful things we do next!

As I've said to a number of you -- I'm still smiling, and will be for a good while. I am very grateful for your confidence, kindnesses, and gestures of appreciation. Thank you for everything.

 Faithfully, Rev. Adam

What Do You Want to Be When You Grow Up?

What do YOU want to do with your one precious life? We all have gifts, skills, and interests that we bring to this world. But what is the one thing that you are passionate about doing in the world? If you follow your passion your heart will be fed. We will reflect on what we are passionate about / what we are called to do in the world. During the service, we will consider where we are in figuring out our calling and finding ways to refresh and renew. The steps will be framed by Sue Dunmore's recent move from the corporate world to public school teacher. The final send-off is to ask everyone to consider what they will do in the coming week to move along this path, wherever they start.

August Nicaragua Brigade Needs Brigadistas!
flag of nicaragua
needs at least 5 more volunteers to travel to Nicaragua August 11 - 19 this summer to build houses for the poorest of the poor, and to build community across boundaries and borders.  We need five more in order to meet the minimum of 12 required to form a brigade. More than 5 would be even better. If you are interested or know someone who might be, please contact one of the 3 group leaders below. You don't have to be a church-member to be a brigadista.
