Harvest the Power: Discovering Your Own Leadership

Whether you're new to 2U or have been around a while, only attended worship or sat on the Board, we invite you to attend Harvest the Power - a course designed to help us all understand how we each can contribute to the leadership of our congregation. Taught by Rev. Adam Robersmith, Marva Williams, Lizzie Kepler, and Jeff Siegel, participants will learn about themselves, our faith tradition, the congregation, and what being a leader means both spiritually and religiously - personally and institutionally. Participants can expect laughter and self-discovery, new information and understandings, and - we hope! - a sense of confidence in being able to participate in the life of the congregation in a new way.
Harvest the Power will be held at 2U at 7:30pm on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month from January through June. NOTE: The first class is on Thurs. Jan. 19. We'll have a sign-up sheet on the What's Happening table in the Palmer Room; you can also contact Marva Williams with questions or to sign up to join the class.
If you're not quite sure whether you'd like to join us, you are welcome to come for the first four classes in January and February and then decide whether you wish to continue on. Think of it as an "open enrollment" period!
This is an excellent opportunity to connect with other members of the congregation and to deepen your engagement with your community - we hope you'll join us!

Your Complaints Are Music to Our Ears!

To accompany Rev. Adam's service on Anger this spring, the choir will sing the complaints of the congregation. This creative outlet for frustration is known as a Complaint Choir. The first step is to gather the complaints of the community. The music committee is gathering complaints from members starting this week.
What's that? You say you're too busy because your children are nagging you about playing with the iPod Touch 24/7, but you just won't let them? They're in luck! We are gathering children's complaints, too! Complain about anything you'd like; we just ask that each complaint be kept to one sentence. Please send your and your child's one-sentence complaint to Marianne Parker by February 1st. |

Choir Corner

Start the New Year with singing! Join the choir! The 2U choir rehearses every Tuesday evening (except February 14!) around the piano in the sanctuary. Rehearsals are from 7:30 to 8:30.
Marianne is very prompt! It's only an hour! The time may vary for sectional rehearsals. BUT - there is always someone there to welcome you at 7:30! Don't be shy! We need you! Come and sing! Happy New Year!
For more information - without exclamation points - you can contact music director Marianne Parker or show up some Tuesday evening or call me, Myra Epping, at 773-338-4086.
Hope to sing with you soon!

Be Hospitable!

Want to make 2U a more welcoming place in 2012? And make new friends at the same time? All in a short, low-key, once a month commitment?
Well, you're in luck! The hospitality team has openings for new volunteers. The overall goal of hospitality is to create a welcoming atmosphere for everyone who comes to 2U. That can mean anything from saying hello and handing out orders of service to ushering and cleaning up after services.
It's a great way to get to know people, do your part for 2U, and put your spirituality into practice. For more information or to sign up, contact Ann (ann.nelson@gmail.com; 708-362-7930) or Nathan (nathan.miller.6@gmail.com; 773-230-5823).
