COMs Chat, Sun. 11/14 at Noon
We Need Your Input! There is no doubt that 2U has been through big changes in the last year. In that year, this congregation has put in a lot of effort to continuing and strengthening the work of the church. We've come together to find a way forward that is inclusive, collaborative, and inspiring, but that work is really only beginning. Last spring, we held our Listening and Healing Worship services to give people space to speak about where 2U had been. Now that we're solidly into the church year, the Committee on Ministries and the Rev. Robersmith would like to know what you think about where we are now. Please join us this Sunday, Nov 14th at 12:00 in the Sanctuary for an opportunity to talk with COMs and Rev. Robersmith. We want to know: What is going well? What are you uncertain about? What needs improvement? Your attendance and participation will help us as we continue to improve 2U and move toward the next steps in seeking a settled minister. The more input we have, the more likely we are to find out how we can continue to become the community we dream about. If you are unable to be there, we hope you'll take a moment to speak with a member of COMs or send us your thoughts in an email to coms@secondunitarian.org. Please join us! We look forward to speaking with you.

From the Director of Programs
Upon the reinstatement of the Story for All Ages, I and the Lifespan Faith Development (LFD) Council committed to the congregation that we would be seeking feedback about the Story for All Ages after we had some time to experience it. As Thanksgiving is just around the corner, it is safe to say that the Fall season is thoroughly underway (even if the weather hasn't felt like it!).
So, what are your thoughts on the Story for All Ages? How do you feel it has impacted the overall worship life of the church? Has it affected your personal worship life? Do you have thoughts on how that time together at the beginning of our services could be different? Do you have suggestions?
In order to move forward thoughtfully, deliberately, and with the best interest of our church and our children in heart and mind, we need to hear from you.
Please share your feedback by replying to this email, or email Gabrielle Parra at programs@secondunitarian.org.
In Faith, Gabrielle

Drop off items this Sunday, Nov. 14, in the Palmer Room or during the week to the church office. Church office hours are 9am - 1pm Monday - Thursday. Early drop-off is preferred, although items will be accepted the day of the event.
WHAT TO BRING Swappable items include quality wardrobe items that you'd typically consign or donate. Items must be CLEAN (freshly laundered) and in very good condition.
Most swap-worthy items fall in 3 categories: NEW Clothes (with tags); NEARLY NEW Clothes (worn only once or twice); GENTLY USED Clothing (worn, but still in very good condition). Gather all the perfectly good wardrobe items that you no longer wear or use to make space for new-to-you pieces that you actually WILL wear.

Orientation to 2nd Unitarian Church
Second Unitarian Church would like to invite any and all visitors to the orientation we will be holding on Sunday, December 5, 11:45 - 1:45. This orientation will be facilitated by members of the 2U Membership Committee and will be an opportunity to share information about the rich history of UUism, the shared values of UUists, 2U's own role in the larger UU movement, and what membership at 2U can look like. Attending an orientation is one prerequisite for formalizing membership at 2U. So, whether you are a regular visitor who is ready to commit to membership, or you are a casual visitor who just wants to learn more about Unitarian Universalism, please join us! Snacks will be provided and childcare will be available upon request. To register, please sign-up at the What's Happening table at church (the big table in the middle of the Palmer Room) or contact Membership Committee Chair John Broome (uuajohn@live.com). We look forward to seeing you there! |
