The Board of Trustees is pleased to announce that Rev. Adam Robersmith is with 2U as Consulting Minister through February, 2010

The Rev. Adam Robersmith is a Chicago-area native who has lived in New York, California, Arizona, and Ireland on his way back to Illinois. He is a graduate of Cornell University and Starr King School for the Ministry, earning a Masters of Divinity with concentrations in contemplative spirituality and Universalist history. He is also a certified Spiritual Director, having trained at the Hesychia School of Spiritual Direction at the Redemptorist Renewal Center in Tuscon, AZ. Most recently, he served the Unitarian Universalist Society of Geneva, IL as their Associate Minister through September, 2009.

Prior to entering the ministry, Rev. Robersmith worked as a writer, musician, puppeteer, and storyteller. He serves our movement at the district level as a Ministerial Settlement Representative for Consulting Ministries and at the national level as a representative of DRUUMM to the Diversity of Ministry Team at the UUA. He lives in Geneva, IL, with his partner, Don, and far too many musical instruments.

Town Hall Meetings

Congregational town hall meetings are scheduled for Sunday February 28, 2010 and Sunday April 18, 2010 following the service.

The incoming Board of Trustees would like to recognize that per the Special Congregational Meeting on Sunday, November 22, 2009 the first of these meetings was to take place in January 2010.  Due to recent events, this was not possible.

Guest At Your Table

This year 2U raised $184.55 in support of GAYT.  Thank you for your contributions.

Sextons & Event Coordinator Needed

We are looking for Sextons and an Event Coordinator.

The sexton will work with those who contract to use church space.  Sextons open the building, help prep the building and return the space to normal after the event and close the building. Sextons are contracted by the renter for $15/hour.

The Event Coordinator mainly works coordinating events like weddings and is paid a percentage of the rental fee.

If interested please contact Business Manager, Chris Engler at office_2U@att.net or (773) 549-0620 x10.

Church Building Leader Needed

Given the restructuring of staff to focus on transition and day to day priorities, and the reduction in staff resources who handled routine maintenance and project work, we are in search of a volunteer Building Leader. This person would be solely responsible for all building maintenance, repair and minor improvement projects. He/she would work with the staff for ordering of necessary supplies and ensuring the building is prepared for any scheduled events/programming.  The role would not include sexton duties for rental events which are handled separately.

In her former position, Suzanne Larimer developed and maintained a list of desirable building projects - some of which are still under the review of the Capital Improvement Committee.  To see the list contact the church office at secondunitarian@att.net.  The list is long but it used to be a lot longer!  Maintenance duties have been added to make it complete and are the ongoing priority.   The Building Leader would ensure all maintenance items are cared for and secure volunteer or professional resources (within the designated budget) to complete projects as prioritized.

If you have the time, interest and talent to fulfill this role please contact a member of the Board of Trustees.
