Young STL donor Briana Macleod makes a huge impact!

Briana MacLeodI founded Kids Helping Kids (http://www.kidshelpingkids.ca) in 2004 when I was nine years old. We help disadvantaged kids in Quebec, Canada and around the world. We help kids in various different ways but our main focus is on education. We believe that having a proper education can serve our society as a whole, and lead the path towards a better future. Right now, I am looking for kids all across Quebec to become Kids Helping Kids representatives at their school. As I am getting older, I am taking on other initiatives, and I would love to find other kids that will help carry on this initiative with the same purpose it has always had: kids helping other kids.

I am also working with a program called "Seize Your Future" to put together a program in St Leonard that will help to lower the dropout rate in Quebec, which is a huge problem right now. Our focus is on transition: we have concluded from interviews and research that kids are most likely to drop out of school when they are going through a transition period. Therefore, we hope to work with all transitions kids go through, for example, primary to secondary. We are even looking to incorporate this program into exchanges, because it is just as hard for students coming from other countries to transition into Canada.
