May 2012 Update

May is National Bike Month and in spite of starting  with a rainy week, there will be lots of good days to get out and ride.  Consider riding to work, to do errands or to visit a friend instead of taking your car. Participate in some of the bike path events , volunteer to help organize and operate the events.   Encourage folks to get on bikes who haven't ridden in years. Join a group ride.  Enjoy the trail and ride with caution on the roads.
Here is what U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray Lahood has to say about bike month.
Hope to see you and Secretary Lahood cycling this month.

Countywide Bikeability Map
Berkshire Regional Planning Commission has put together a county-wide map highlighting how bikeable our roads are along with points of interest like bathrooms, picnic areas and recreational spots, but now we need your help. You have a lot of experience biking in the Berkshires and we need your help to review the map.
Please email your mailing address to Doug Plachcinski (dplachcinski@berkshireplanning.org) ASAP and we will send you the map to review.

Ashuwillticook Trail Clean Up April 21

Special thanks to M Edward Jewelers for closing their store and encouraging ALL their employees to help "Preserve the Berkshires Natural Gems".

In all about 50 people showed up to clean up the Ashuwillticook trail on a cool and rain threatening morning.  The rain held off and much was accomplished. Thanks to the Old Forge for bringing a delicious lunch.  And of course thanks to Becky Barnes who did a great job organizing crews and work assignments.
