JULY 2010 Update
It's summer and we are all busy with everything the Berkshires have to offer. Let's keep Joe Thompson's thoughts in mind as we keep working on developing our county wide route. "If one were to imagine a hub of bike trails circumnavigating Mount Greylock, with spokes to all corners of the county, the Berkshires would become the best bike region east of the Mississippi and one of the top five in North America. The draw of that would be immense: something like Tanglewood, the Clark, and Jiminy Peak all rolled into one." - Joseph Thompson Director, MASS MoCA Join us for some of the activities below. BBPC supports Pittsfield's August Third Thursday BCA Criterium After a one year absence, the Berkshire Cycling Association (BCA) will conduct a professional bicycleCriterium scheduled for August 19 as part of Pittsfield's Third Thursdays Downtown Arts. The race consists of 50 laps on a one kilometer closed circuit in downtown Pittsfield.
This exciting event was very popular when last held in August 2008 but does require considerable man power to be successful. Help is needed for registration and to set up and take down barriers. Also road marshals are needed to help control spectators for safety reasons. Some of the set up can be done the night before (Wednesday August 18). The remaining set up must be done just prior to the race start and is time critical. If you can help either pre-setup day or race day or both please click on the link below to volunteer or respond to this newsletter. No experience is necessary.

You can see a copy on the BBPC web page. The brochure was the result of the hard work of Pam Roberts and John Yuill and was produced by the Color Connection in Lenox. If you would like a hard copy - or are having an event where they could be distributed, call Marge 442 5223.
