2011 Dixie Youth Tournament Economic Impact
The 2011 Dixie Youth Tournament will have an enormous financial impact on the City of Cleveland and the surrounding communities as well as the State of Mississippi.
24 teams from 4 states will participate in this tournament. During tournament weekend, the World Series supporters will fill hundreds of hotel rooms in the area. They will be involved in many activities throughout the weekend such as dining, shopping, sightseeing and entertainment ventures. Past Dixie Youth economic impact has been estimated to be thousands of dollars. Retail and service businesses will also benefit tournament weekend. All this combined will surely be a boost to the local economy. This will be a great opportunity for the people and the businesses of Cleveland to showcase our beautiful city, state and hospitality. The Dixie Youth Coach Pitch Committee is asking the local business community to pitch in and make this the best Dixie Youth tournament ever.
We are still in need of volunteers for the weekend to make this a successful tournament. If you can help, please call the Chamber at 843-2712.

Marketing: The Chamber hosted two luncheons to help roll out the marketing campaign.
We are now doing the Sports portion of our campaign so be looking for the ads, testimonials and commercials.
Promotions:
The State sponsors a "tax free" weekend in July.
Just certain items that pertain to back to school are tax free. The committee decided that it would be easier to have all sale tax free rather than try to separate these items, at participating stores. This will take place July 29th and 30th which is the same weekend as the Coach Pitch Tournament. TC approved a full page ad in the program and we will advertise the "tax free" opportunity.
Economic Restructuring: Merle Norman has moved to Sharpe Ave. and The Southern Grill has reopened on North St.
Octoberfest: Sponsor request letters have been mailed and some businesses have responded. The event is October 14th & 15th this year. Most Chairs are in place.
TOURISM:
The Robertson Scholars are back in Cleveland for the summer. They will live in the Delta for two months and work with various Delta charities and non-profits. One of their projects will be to build two Swift Towers, one at Dahomey and one on the campus at DSU.
The Delta Center took twenty eigit TFA participants on a day-long heritage tour Saturday, June 18.
