The SS United States Conservancy seeks to raise awareness of our national flagship and works to assure a dignified and sustainable future for the SS
United States. We hope that this great engineering and cultural icon will be given a second life as a vibrant shore-side
attraction providing jobs and enjoyment for the people of the United
States.
Former CBS anchor Walter Cronkite, Honorary Chair of the Conservancy's Advisory Council, described the vessel's neglect as "a crime against history," and her rehabilitation will be a "restoration of American pride in something it should be very proud of."
Several exciting awareness-raising events have been scheduled this summer - read below for details. The Conservancy has also established working groups to
continue building momentum around our "Save Our Ship" campaign in
Philadelphia, New York, Washington, DC, and Miami. We are pleased to
be working closely with the Coalition to Save the SS United States on
this initiative.
Over the next several months, the Conservancy will be unveiling additional initiatives to help preserve the legacy of the Big U. The
ship remains listed for sail and our level of concern is elevated. We
must all come together now in order to save our
national flagship.
As always, thank you so much for your support and enthusiasm.
With our best wishes,
The SS United States Conservancy's Board of Directors
