"SS UNITED STATES: Lady in Waiting" Chosen for LA International Harbor Film Festival
The SS United States Conservancy is delighted to announced that the documentary film, "SS United States: Lady in Waiting," produced by Conservancy Board Member Mark Perry and directed by Robert Radler, has been selected for screening at the LA International Harbor Film Festival in San Pedro on Sunday, April 26th at noon. Mark and Bob will be on hand for a Q&A session after the screening. The film will be shown at the vintage 1931 art deco Warner Grand Theater near the Port of Los Angeles. Following the screening, the Maritime Research Center and Trans-Oceanic plan to throw a "bon voyage" party and showcase vintage United States Lines memorabilia. Don't miss this opportunity to see the film on the big screen!

New Online Petition Launched
In an effort to bring the plight of the SS UNITED STATES to the attention of President Obama and members of Congress, the Conservancy has started an online petition which we hope will be a part of a viral "Save Our Ship" campaign on the internet. Please take a moment to read and sign the petition, one signature per supporter, and then forward the petition to all of your friends and family via email and through your various online social networking sites. It only takes a few seconds and it's just one of many ways you can help save this irreplaceable national treasure. Please read and sign the petition here.

Just Cruises Plus Joins the S.O.S. Campaign
The Conservancy is honored to report that we received an email from Wayne Leese, president of Just Cruises Plus, offering to donate a percentage of their cruise sales to our Save Our Ship effort when booking passengers mention the SS United States Conservancy. Please visit their website where they've posted a nice mention of the Ship, the Conservancy, and the ongoing efforts to save her. In Memory of Antonia "Toni" Young
The S.S. United States was lucky to have Toni Young as a passenger on two different crossings as she sailed over and back across the Atlantic Ocean from New York to Le Havre, France. Traveling with her family as a child, the crossings became powerful memories that informed her life with a sense of history as a world traveler and music buff. She has unexpectedly passed away, and in lieu of flowers, her family has requested contributions in any amount be made in her memory to honor the preservation work for this historic American icon. They each were America's finest examples of spirit, grace and perserverance.
