Dear Members & Supporters,
The SS United States Conservancy is pleased to announce that the highly anticipated one-hour film SS United States: Lady in Waiting is, as they say in the business, "in the can." The high definition master tape was delivered to our presenting station, WTTW in Chicago, on Thursday, January 31, so that they may begin planning the film's debut on American Public Television affiliates throughout the country in May of this year. It is our sincere hope that this film will help educate and entertain the American viewing audience, and bring our nation's flagship back into the spotlight of historical significance she so richly deserves. Be sure to check your local television listings as the debut date draws near. We are also thrilled that the timing of the film's world premiere will coincide with the Conservancy's annual gathering, scheduled for Friday, May 2nd and Saturday, May 3rd in Long Beach, California. Further details about this landmark event are included later in this update - we hope you can join us!

Documentary to Feature SS United States Orchestra Recordings!
In what was truly an eleventh hour miracle, Big Ship Films' intrepid and inspired music researcher came through with the news that he had located the somewhat surprised owner of the master recording rights to the Everest Records 1959 release "Let's Dance On Board the SS United States." So the producers have secured the necessary rights and permissions to use the authentic Meyer Davis Orchestra arrangements which compliment the film so well. Many thanks to all of you who emailed Big Ship Films with ideas, leads, and support. And a huge thanks to musician and researcher Barry Ennis for saving the day.

ATTEND A WORLD PREMIERE!
The SS United States Conservancy is honored to announce that the world premiere of the film SS United States: Lady in Waiting will be held in conjunction with our annual meeting during the first weekend in May! Please save the dates! Details will be forthcoming soon, but we've secured the enthusiastic cooperation of the RMS Queen Mary Foundation in Long Beach, California to host a weekend of lectures, special events, and, of course, the black tie gala World Premiere of Lady in Waiting. On Saturday night, May 3, the documentary will be shown for the first time ever on the big screen in high definition. And what better setting than aboard the RMS Queen Mary, the penultimate holder of the Blue Riband? As part of the weekend's festivities, we will also celebrate the official dedication of the Conservancy's SS United States exhibit aboard the ship. We will follow up soon with detailed reservation information. Don't miss these very special events aboard the historic Queen Mary!
