The MC206X provides stabilised control for 30 metre film and TV camera positioning mast...
VortexTrio Motion Technology's MC206X motion controller is being used to provide position and stability control for a 30 metre camera mast that provides sweeping high-angle aerial shots for film and TV. The Vortex Aerial Mount Camera System, developed by professional cameraman Matthew Gladstone of Cammotion with the help of automation specialist Machinery Control Systems (MCS), is completely portable and can be rigged and de-rigged in minutes - making it suitable for a wide range of spectacular shots for outside broadcast and film studio work.
MC464 and SERCOSMC464 and SERCOS...
Trio are pleased to announce the shipment of the first production P872 16 axis SERCOS modules to customers.  These SERCOS II masters follow on from the successful  MC224 SERCOS daughter board. However, the extended  features of the MC464 expansion bus means that the  SERCOS experience is taken to another level and gives the ability to control up to 64 axes using multiple SERCOS modules.

The enhanced performance of the MC464 hardware is not the only improvement.  Motion Perfect's SERCOS setup  wizard is in the process of being enhanced to give an even  better plug and play capability to setting up SERCOS systems.

frame 13FRAME 13...
Another new FRAME TRANSFORM has been added to the ever growing library of mathematical transformations designed to control complex geometries.  Frame 13 gives the ability to control a 2 axis pick and place machine with a mechanism like the one shown here.  The tool tip of the mechanism is moved using simple X,Y Cartesian coordinates and the frame transformation automatically takes care of the  motor/gearbox angles.  For more information download the application note AN-229.

New Series 2 System Software...

The latest production release of the series 2 System software has many improvements over older versions including the following...

  • Backlash compensation added using BACKLASH and BACKLASH_DIST.
  • Mathematical transformations (FRAME) included to convert XY coordinates into machine specific coordinates. FRAME 1, 2, 5, 6 and 13 are now all included as standard.
  • SPLINE function now supports NURBS
  • SD Card support added
  • TIMER function added to improve IO control.
  • STEP-Z, stepper with z-mark registration now available (hardware permitting)
  • INTEGER_READ and INTEGER_WRITE functions added for double-word integer transfers in and out of 32 bit axis parameters.
  • REGIST_SPEED and REGIST_SPEEDB record MSPEED at time of registration event.
  • Move Options for MOVELINK/CAMBOX allow bit 5 (32) to be set.  This ignores motion on the linkaxis in a negative direction
  • ENDAT encoders can now be 32 bit, rather than previous limit of 31 bits
