MC464 and SERCOSMC464 and SERCOS...
Trio are pleased to announce the shipment of the first  production P872 16 axis SERCOS modules to customers.  These SERCOS II masters follow on from the successful  MC224 SERCOS daughter board. However, the extended  features of the MC464 expansion bus means that the  SERCOS experience is taken to another level and gives the ability to control up to 64 axes using multiple SERCOS modules.

The enhanced performance of the MC464 hardware is not  the only improvement.  Motion Perfect's SERCOS setup  wizard is in the process of being enhanced to give an even  better plug and play capability to setting up SERCOS  systems.

Some applications require the use of spiral motion, for example, in the glue laying industry. This tech note shows how this can be achieved using a Motion Coordinator without having to program the movement into a cam profile.

Electro-hydraulic applications...

electro hydraulicThe Motion Coordinator range from Trio is mostly associated with the control of electric drives using some form of digital feedback device.  Incremental and absolute rotary or linear encoders are typical feedback devices used in electric servo systems.  However, the world does not end with electric drives so with it's fast loop closure update rate, up to  250usec, and software 5-term PID servo algorithm the Motion Coordinator is being used more and more in electro-hydraulic applications.

If you are just starting a Trio BASIC application and are  looking for inspiration, then our technical support team may  have the answer.  From time to time we produce application notes which describe in detail how to go about constructing a machine program.
Here is one such example which shows  how to build a program to control a vertical bag making  machine.  This type is often referred to as "Form-Fill-Seal" as it makes the bag, fills it with product and seals/cuts the end of the bag in one continuous cycle.

Here are our five tips to help speed up your use of Motion Perfect:
1. Quick connection...
Quickly connect and disconnect to your Motion Coordinator using the shortcuts CTRL+ALT+C to connect and CTRL+ALT+D to disconnect.
2. Need a new program?
Simply by pressing CTRL+N to add a new program
3. Clean code layout...
Rather than spending time formatting the tab alignment of your TrioBasic code, simply select "Tools".. "Reformat" in the editor window and let Motion Perfect Format it for you.
4. Fed-up opening the same windows every time you connect?
Select the "Restore destop on reconnect" from the "Options".. "General Options" dialogue.
5. Finished programming your machine?
Do not forget to fix the programs in EPROM using the "Fixed" radio button at the top of the Control Pannel.
