Tara will share strategies that have worked for her and her clients.  Ask questions, get creative and build you business!

Join us next Tuesday, November 3rd at 8:00 a.m. for our monthly networking breakfast at Candlewood Suites, Fitchburg.

Thank you to our Business Before 9 sponsors, Park Bank and MG&E!

The Dane County Waterbody Classification Initiative (also referred to as Shoreland Zoning)
is a proposed program that could impact 57,000 properties in Dane County.

It would impose new regulations, costs and procedures on all properties within the
shoreland zone. The shoreland zone in our villages and cities would be extended from 75' from the water to 1000' from lakes and ponds and 300' from rivers and streams.

The Dane County Council of Public Affairs will be holding a series of forums to
inform the public of this proposal.  Phil Salkin, Government Affairs Director at REALTORS Association of South Central Wisconsin
, will be one of the speakers along with realtors and other experts in the real estate field who will be serving on a panel to address questions from the public. This is an important opportunity to learn about this initiative. The forums will be held as follows:

Tuesday, October 27th, 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Prairie View Middle School Cafetorium, 400 North Thompson Road, Sun Prairie

Wednesday, October 28th, 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Community Center Oak Hall, 5520 Lacy Road, Fitchburg

In addition, Dane County will be holding two public hearings on this issue as follows:

Tuesday, November 17th, 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m., Sun Prairie City Office Meeting Room, 300 E. Main St., Sun Prairie

Wednesday, November 18th, 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m., Verona Senior Center, 108 Paoli St., Verona

Dane County has provided this question/answer document for some background information:

It is important for businesses and residents to understand all sides of this issue.   If you own property near a pond, lake or storm water retention pond any changes you make to your property will require an erosion control plan and any installation of the plan will be at your expense.  There is concern that this regulation will have an even greater negative effect on property values in Dane County.  The Madison Area Chamber of Commerce and other economic development organizations have asked the county for a comprehensive study looking at the economic impact this regulation would have, but county staff said it was too difficult to quantify and have recommended this regulation.  The public hearings listed above will give you chance to have your questions answered and voice any concerns you may have.  You can also contact your county representatives.
