One of the coolest things about Niner not following the Model Year game plan is early arrival of next-year's product. Since we order from vendors like Fox, Shimano, SRAM and American Classic several times a year, we get new product as soon as it's available instead of waiting until spring.

Our Shimano build kits have been refreshed with 2013 XTR, XT and SLX. The Shadow Plus clutch in these derailleurs eliminates chain-slap and keeps your drivetrain quiet. Ice Tech brake technology also trickles down to SLX making it one of the best groups available regardless of cost - proof that you don't have to pay more to get more.

FOX CTD TECHNOLOGY

We also have new Fox CTD Float 100 and Talas 120 forks (Climb/Trail/Descend) that offer a wider range of adjustment with a simple three-position lever. Wide-open, locked out or using the adjustable "Trail" middle setting, Fox makes it easier for everyone to ride fast.

ENDURO MADNESS

Enduro is everywhere these days. A beloved motorcycle format and a firmly-established European MTB racing scene are finally making an impression on this side of the pond. At its heart, Enduro is just competing against your friends on the fast sections of trail and cruising the rest - races consist of timed stages and untimed transfers.

Since this is the sort of riding that almost every Ninerd does on a regular basis, we are all uniquely qualified to race Enduro. Leave the lycra at home and don't worry about your VO2 max for a few hours, the typical Enduro stage favors technical skill and covers terrain best handled by a trail bike like the R.I.P. 9 or W.F.O. 9. That's not to say you won't do well with the climbing prowess of a mountain goat, most enduro events have pedally stages to level the field and the very best racers have DH skill with XC fitness.

COLORADO FREERIDE FESTIVAL ENDURO

Last week, Trestle Bike Park in Winter Park, Colorado hosted a stop of the North American Enduro Tour. The three-day, five-stage race started with a distinct DH flavor, kicking things off with a chainless run and a rowdy and wet stage 2 using the Trestle DH course. The second day made use of the bike park's network of flowy jump trails and day three had racers starting well outside the park and featured a few tough climbs through wet and tight XC singletrack. 29ers figured prominently in the Pro and Amateur categories and there were no fewer than four W.F.O. 9s shredding the trails. Sicklines reviewer Toni Walbridge raced his loaner W.F.O. 9 to first place in the Men's 30+ chainless DH. How's that for an in-depth review of a bike? The whole review is here.

CITY BIKE SHOP, TRAVERSE CITY, MI      

Nestled in the signletrack rich area of Traverse City, City Bike Shop, has cemented their place as leaders for all things mountain biking for Northern Michigan. The shop began as small family owned business in 1955 as part of the Schwinn family and has undergone several expansions over the past fifteen years, tripling in size. In 2008, City Bike Shop joined the Niner Nation in a search of something unique. In four short years they have fully embraced the The Big Revolution with many of the shop employees falling in love with their Niners, including Julie, with her new extra small EMD taking center stage.

As the shop has grown to meet the needs of the local community so has their involvement. Steve and Julie Baesch, owners of City Bike Shop, along with Jeff Craven, their shop manager, have taken an active role in the cycling community of Traverse City, Michigan. They host several rides from the shop each week that highlight the area singletrack and even some quality singletrack known only to the locals. Their support of the community extends to their backing of a local cycling team as well as the iconic Iceman Cometh race held yearly on the first weekend in November.  

For those of you that live in or around Traverse City you probably know City Bike Shop well. For those traveling to the area, be sure to stop in for service on your Niner and to say hello to Isen and Hogan, their friendly four legged Ninerd trail dogs. The Path Bike Shop, Tustin, CA      

From their humble beginning in 1998 in a 500 square foot shop, to their present day location that occupies nearly ten times that amount space and houses close to 100 demo bikes, owner Tani Walling and the staff of The Path Bike Shop, have put rider service and community at the forefront. The shop hosts at least one ride during the week and a ride on both weekend days on the local trails, which meets and departs from their location in Old Town Tustin. They also have a strong desire to support young riders, demonstrated by their passion and commitment to the SoCal High School Mountain Bike League, and there support of the Foothills High School program this fall.  

The riders and members of the Path Bike Shop have a strong passion for big wheels. The Path is one of our oldest shops having been around since the beginning, in 2005. Inspired by the big wheels, but in search of something better, The Path looked to Niner to lead the way. With the geometry dialed and aesthetics to boot, the riders of The Path Bicycle Shop's community looked to Niner to fill their need.  

To see what the buzz is about head into the shop to find the latest offerings in the lineup, such as the Jet 9 RDO, or to throw your leg over one their many demo bikes. Whether new to the sport or a seasoned veteran the best way to get a feel for a bike is to get out and ride it. The Path is very passionate about getting riders on the bikes that are best for them and works hard to have a well rounded demo fleet to help find this fit.
