Introducing the Jet 9 RDO, Niner's new carbon full suspension frame.
- Carbon full suspension from the only 29er only mountain bike company
- Patented CVA suspension is efficient in every chainring. You won't find this design on other bikes.
- 100mm of race-ready rear suspension
- Compatible with 100 - 120mm tapered forks
- Custom valved Fox Float RP23 with Kashima coating
- Custom forged suspension linkage and unique Niner suspension hardware
- Next generation internal cable routing
- Precise alloy hardware interfaces for brakes and derailleurs (direct mount front der)
- 5.1 lbs for size small frame with shock, titanium frameguards, derailleur hanger and chainstay protector - this is real world weight, we have not removed any necessary hardware, paint or frame finishes. "Bike Industry fantasy" weight is 4.6lbs, but we don't play that game. :-)
The swooping curves and strong lines of this frame began with testing data based on our own and competitor's products, helping us to determine baseline tube shapes and thicknesses for best performance. Applied to a set of design parameters, this data also drove our targets for strength, stiffness and damping characteristics. The result - an aesthetically striking form whose curves are functionally derived.
Next, we employ the data referenced above in our robust R&D program - computer modeling, physical prototype testing (both in-house and at independent testing facilities), and hours of ride testing under our 10 highly skilled and abusive test riders. This aggressive approach helps us to produce a carbon monocoque frame that far exceeds CEN safety standards and for which we are proud to offer our C5 Carbon Warranty (five years).
The Jet 9 RDO features Niner's patented CVA suspension (U.S. Patent No. 7,934,739). For those seeking the advantages of 29" wheels combined with pedaling efficiency across all 3-chainrings, CVA is an obvious front-runner. On the Jet 9 RDO, this climbing benefit, combined with the small bump compliance of a system with no chain growth, means you ride faster and smoother - perfect for a carbon full suspension speedster.
Custom forged linkages contribute to the stellar performance of the Jet 9 RDO - preserving power transfer through the entire system. Additionally, all linkage pivots are outfitted with Enduro brand full complement sealed cartridge bearings for a smooth, friction-free suspension.
Speaking of friction free - the Jet 9 RDO is spec'd with a custom-valved Fox Float RP 23 with Kashima coating. This silky smooth coating fills microscopic surface inconsistencies for less stiction and better response to terrain.
The looks may attract your eye, and the CVA suspension may appeal to your intellectual side, but the design features of the Jet 9 RDO will convince the luxury lover in you to take the plunge. This frame features next generation internal cable routing for a clean look, precise alloy hardware interfaces for direct mount brakes and post mount disc-brake mounts for weight savings and good looks.
The Jet 9 RDO retails for $2599 and features our C5 warranty . We maintain that our carbon fiber testing and design rivals the best in the bike industry. Rather than just talking about it, we choose to demonstrate this commitment via our 5 year warranty and commitment to customer service.

George (Niner's lead engineer), Carla (evil marketing type and unofficial Utah Tourist board member) and Chris (our fearless leader) made the trek to Deer Valley last week for Press Camp. For those of you not familiar, Press Camp is an event where the editors of most of the major bike magazines in North America and many of the important UK and European publications get together for meetings and rides with companies like Niner Bikes.
For five days, we spent our time getting the word out about the new Jet 9 RDO - in the mornings we had meetings and in the afternoons we set up demos - that way, the editors could get info and go shred high altitude Utah singletrack on our new rig.
We've gathered a few editor reactions - check it out:
"Expect this bike to give other carbon fiber 29ers like the Santa Cruz Tallboy and the Gary Fisher Superfly (and the forth coming Ibis 29er) a run for their money." - Greg Kato, MTBr.com "Having had the chance to put around four hours of riding into one, I was pretty impressed..." - Chipps Chippendale, Singletrackworld.com "All I could think about on one final shuttle run was how much fun the Jet 9 Carbon would be to race at our Colorado-staple Winter Park XC this weekend. That's a hearty compliment" - Caley Fretz, Singletrack.com

As some of you may have seen, we were recently awarded a patent for our CVA™ Suspension design. To say we are stoked is an understatement, for sure. To have this patent coincide with the release of the Jet 9 RDO is even better.
"...confident, solid, predictable and fun... Niner has the most experience with 29er suspension designs" - FEED THE HABIT
For those of you not familiar with our system, here are a few points: 1. Niner's CVA™ IS NOW PATENTED (U.S. PATENT NO. 7,934,739) CVA™ is an award-winning suspension design and now it is recognized with a US Patent. 2. THE ONLY 29ER SPECIFIC SUSPENSION DESIGN CVA™ is the only suspension designed with 29ers in mind. For those seeking big wheels and CVA™ performance, Niner is the way to go - you won't find this design on other bikes. 3. EFFICIENT PEDALING IN ALL 3 CHAINRINGS CVA™ is designed to be efficient in all chainrings. Because of the location of the lower pivot (under the BB) chain torque effectively isolates and cancels out the forces acting to create inefficiency in pedal stroke. For most riders, point #3 is probably the first thing you will notice when first trying a Niner (riding is believing). Here is a test: - Find a climb near you that takes approx 30 seconds. - Ride your bike in the granny up this climb and then do the same with a Niner. - Repeat in the other gears, both in and out of the saddle. We believe that you will find that the exceptional power transfer of our frames as well as the efficiency of the CVA system makes climbing easiest on a Niner. Try it, and let us know what you think on our Facebook page. You can find CVA™ on our W.F.O. 9, R.I.P. 9, Jet 9 and now on the Jet 9 RDO frames. For more detailed CVA™ info, download this PDF of info and review quotes. |

We have so many great racers in our grassroots program. Sometimes they send us letters. This is one of our favorites - from Judith and Laia - Junior-age twin sisters from Spain, compteing and kicking ass on the Air 9 Carbon:
"We are Laia and Judith Fores, we live in Banyoles, a town in the province of Girona (Catalonia, Spain). This month - June - we will be 16 years. We are twins sisters who love bikes and cycling, but without leaving our school duties aside.
Our beginnings in the mountain-bike world started at school. We were 11 years old. Actually, our father had already competed in cycling and our mother and we were used to seeing him in the races. Our parents offered us the possibility of joining the cycling school in our village and so it all began. We really liked pedalling and firstly we went on weekend trips and we had a great time; then we started to compete and we won some races. Slowly, we started to compete in more races and this way we won the Provincial and the Catalonia Championship, and we were always on top of the podium.
At home, we have always lived the races the whole family. We always go together everywhere and although now our father does not take part in competitions, he takes care of the mechanics, registrations to the races, calendars, web-sites... Our mother is the responsible for the logistics, accommodation and she is the one in charge of the photographies!
In 2009 we competed for the club of our village, founded that year by our father and his friends. The team is the Serinyà - Càrniques Juià. In 2010 we became cadets and we signed on for a professional team (Conor - Forallac), the first team of MTB exclusively female in Spain. We travelled around Spain and we got great results. Judith won the Open d'España, and Laia got the second place, the same for the Copa Catalana Internacional - GP Massi, we also won the Championship of Catalonia (Judith first and Laia second). In the Championship of Spain, Laia was the first runner to cross the finishing line and Judith competed with knee problems.
These victories were in official competitions but we also won other races where we took part just to train so as not to lose the spark of the competition. It was a full year with a lot of trips and kilometers which helped and taught us lots of things as we knew new circuits and met many people. This year 2011, we have returned to the team competition with CC Serinyà, which helps us as much as they can. Then, unexpectedly, it came out the possibility of competing with NINER, thanks to BICI OCI, and it was an incredible and fantastic idea.
Since the first moment that we tried the wheels 29 we have liked them very much. We were surprised of the improvement that we experienced - rising and falling -. In the races, when we finish a competition, the riders and other people come to see us and they ask about the bikes, if the NINER is great... and we say that they are fantastic and incredibly fun. We are in love and delighted with these amazing bikes, and it is not our intention to use a bike with small wheels again.
This year the races couldn't be better. We are leaders in the Copa Catalana Internacional - GP Massi, in the Open Tàctic and we have the Catalonia and Spain Championship in 5 weeks, where we expect to get great results. We would like to thank the store BICI OCI of Salt, their owners and friends - Narcís and David - for their support and for having given us two NINER AIR 9 CARBON and spare parts to face the season; we also want to thank the distributor of Barcelona, Top Fun Biking, for the monitoring they do in the races.
Thanks to our sponsors: Construccions Joan Nicolas, Càrniques Juià, Càrniques Celrà, INSTALGRUP, Ramaderia Roca, Ajutament de Serinyà and the Cycling Club of Serinyà. We must also thank our friends and our coach - Carlos Portilla - for their support and especially, our parents, Jaume i Rosa; without them this dream would not have been possible.
If you wish to see more photos or information, you can enter our web-site."

We have a great crew of people who work to bring Niner Bikes to the world, and as a part of expanding the Niner community, we thought we would start making some introductions:
Introducing Larry Dunham, our staff accountant!
Larry grew up in Woodland, CA, near Sacramento, where he began mountain biking at the age of 10. When it came time for college, he made the trek to SoCal, and became a Long Beach resident, where he still lives, with his wife Lisa and their "generic cat" Meows. :-)
With over 20 years of riding under his belt, Larry is Niner's most hardcore bike commuter. His path each day takes him from Long Beach to Torrance, and combines the best and worst of Los Angeles area bike paths, traffic, industrial roads and potholes. When we asked our road warrior what his best commuting tip was, he got all Harry Potter on us and said "Constant Vigilance". "Most of safety on the road is about keeping your head up and your eyes open. Being aware of your surroundings is very important".
When he has the opportunity to get off-road, Larry loves to hit the trails with bikes out of the Niner Demo Fleet. His favorite bike so far? "the Jet 9 RDO. I loved how light it was". He plans to get one himself eventually, in Black Licorice!

The staff of the Hub Bicycle Service in Jackson, Wyoming is lucky enough to be located in one of those places most of us only dream of living. You only have to go a few feet out the door to access one of their many amazing trail systems and for those of you who don't feel like climbing, there are some pretty sweet shuttle and lift served options, too.
Originally located in Teton Village, the owners, Aaron and Mark, have recently remodeled the shop and opened a new location in downtown Jackson. The Teton shop will have tons of rentals and gear for the new lift-served trails about to open at the resort, and the Jackson shop will focus more on the wide range of shuttle and XC options available to residents and visitors.
To that end, The Jackson shop flies the Niner flag high - both owners race Niners - "fast flowy trails demand fast flowy bikes" says Mark. The shop is currently building 4 new Niner demo bikes for the season - call to reserve yours:

Located in northeast Dallas, in the White Rock Lake area, Dallas Bike Works is a great Texas source for Niner Bikes. They have been around for 6 years, selling road and MTBs, and have recently moved into a bigger location "Everything is bigger. We expanded the sales floor, shop area, bikes, and employees, including a wide selection of Niners."
The folks at Dallas Bike Works love 29ers - in fact, you may recognize the owner, Boyd (on his Jet 9 and Air 9 Carbon) from local races. "29er hardtails rule the trails here" said the manager, James.
There are a lot of great trails within 30 minutes of the shop. "there is a ton of stuff to ride around town, more than folks expect. We are happy to help you figure out where to go."
This local trail knowledge will come in handy when you demo a Niner at Dallas Bike Works. In stock to demo they have:
E.M.D. 9 - Small and X-Large
Air 9 - Large and Medium
Jet 9 - Medium
