Niner co-founder Steve Domahidy got hitched on January
30! Everyone here at Niner wishes him and Mrs. Domahidy a lifetime
of happiness. As a nice touch Steve used an old W.F.O. 9 frame that had
been used for testing as their guestbook! Many of the original Wednesday night MTB crew, (where Chris
and Steve met and dreamed up Niner Bikes), were in attendance to witness the
event. Here is a message from Steve (aren't newlyweds cute? :-) )
"People thought we were crazy to have an outdoor wedding on
January 30th, but Corinne and I knew it would be nothing short of
amazing, and that's exactly what it was. With clear blue skies and
temperatures that at least felt like 60 degrees, the day was spectacular,
replete with a herd of grazing dear roaming around the snow covered
backdrop. It was truly spectacular, and with a host of friends and family
there to celebrate, the day was absolutely perfect! Welcome to the family, Mrs.
Domahidy!!! I love you!" - Steve Domahidy

We
have some of our newest baseball hats back in stock. These come with contrast
stitching and the Flexfit band in S/M and L/XL. Pick one up and be part of the team!
Our ever popular Flat Top 9 handlebars are also back
in stock. The bars are great for 29er fitting - nice and wide but without rise. Check our website for more info and visit your Niner dealer
or our webstore to get yours.
Finally, we have a great new "Drink Damn It" coffee press made by our friends at Planetary Designs in Missoula, Montana. Our Brand Manager, Carla, swears by her full size press as the "best camping coffee press ever". It keeps the coffee warm for a long time and is super durable. This smaller version should be great for folks who need a more portable way to get their morning (or afternoon) brew. Planetary Designs is a great company, too, dedicated to the principles of sustainability. Check out the Coffee presses here.

Brett and Mike from Niner attended the SS USA/SS AZ event put on by our very own Dejay Birtch in early February. Niner racers Fuzzy and Tim were also there looking lean and mean - ready to race. Plagued by snow in Colorado (where Brett and Tim live) and cold/rain in Georgia (where Mike lives), it was nice to get into some 65 degree weather for a couple of days.
The race started on the road for about 4 miles until we hit dirt. This was a special day - it happened to be Dejay's birthday so once we hit dirt we regrouped and sang Happy Birthday to Dejay. We then started up a 12 mile fire road climb which separated the men from the boys. At the top of the climb Dejay stocked up a cooler with beer (in true SS race style) soda, twizzlers, and all types of junk food. Pockets loaded up the singletrack began and continued for what seemed like 35-40 miles. This was a tough SS course Dejay made! Brett rode with the guys from Golden Bike Shop so no records were broken. Mike went for the leg burn and raced it pretty good. Tim and Fuzzy...well lets just say they were in the front group the entire race.
The last 12 miles were down La Milagrosa - probably one of the most bad ass descents around. All super technical, very loose downhill Arizona desert style loaded with cactus every few feet. At the bottom we were greeted with Dale's Pale Ale and really good local pizza - perfect after 4-7 hours in the saddle depending on how hard core you were!
Thanks for organizing and hosting SS USA , Dejay!

We have a great crew of people who work to bring Niner Bikes to the world, and as a part of expanding the Niner community, we thought we would start making some introductions:
Meet Brian Pierro.
His official title is Sales Coordinator/Dealer Support, but you probably know him as that super mellow voice on the phone or as the red-head in a lot of Niner's pics on the website!
When he isn't at the Niner office, chances are that Brian is out on either his Air9 and Rip9, and he is currently planning the build for his new Jet 9 (he has to wait till everyone else has theirs!).
An East coast rider at heart, Brian looks for roots, tree cover and rolling terrain. In SoCal, you can find him on the Pt. Mugu/Sycamore Canyon trails, cruising to the ocean. He likes the cooler temps and fun swoopy trails, climbs and descents on the coastal trail. He still dreams of Ithaca, NY in the fall. The trails near his hometown are great and he often mentions how awesome it is to be out in the woods with trees and logpiles.
Finally, we asked Brian for his best tech tip:
"Best tech tip would have to be to keep your derailleur hanger straight. A slight tweak in the hanger can totally throw off the shifting and annoy you for hours on a long ride. The best starting place for perfect shifting is to check that hanger. Keeping your drivetrain clean and lubed is a no brainer as well, but worth the effort it takes."

>> ROCK N' ROAD CYCLERY IN ORANGE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA
Rock N' Road Cyclery now has 4 state-of-the-art bike shops in Orange County, California. The latest one opened in Irvine last year, and is already being visited by other shop owners to see what the future of cycling looks like.
Company founder, Matt Ford, explains that this store and the three other Rock N' Road Cycle stores in OC are going to just keep improving on their advantage:
"We have just added the most advanced bicycle fitting system available to our Irvine location. The Specialized BG Data fitting system provides computerized analysis of every part of your riding style from both the side and the front while you are actually riding and under load."
The other three stores, located in Laguna Niguel, Anaheim Hills, and Mission Viejo, provide the bicycling community in OC with more than just a place to buy a bike. Matt continues:
"We want to provide riders with everything they need to maximize their riding experience. That goes far beyond gear and includes classes, rides, clubs, and involvement in the racing and touring communities."
See what they can do for you. Get in touch with them here.
