Not Your Daddy's Chamber

October 2012
Greetings!

tigger Halloween is the happiest time of year. What other holiday mixes the sweet energy and enthusiasm of childhood with the darker instincts of our nature to create a heady brew of candy and psychosis? Arbor Day doesn't count.
Here at the Capitol Hill Chamber of Commerce we believe that Halloween is the perfect holiday to show off the Hill's creativity and spirit of independence, hence, our signature event this month: Hilloween!

Hilloween is a modern Halloween carnival for young and old featuring musical performances, shadow puppet plays, spooky storytelling, a kid's costume parade and trick or treating. Lots and lots of trick or treating. The merchants of Broadway will be prepared with candy (glorious candy!)for the hordes of ghouls and boils that will converge on the street to celebrate this most Hillish of holidays.

hilloween streetPromoting Capitol Hill as a unique, creative, fun place to be is a part of the mission of the Capitol Hill Chamber of Commerce. Hilloween is a chance to connect new customers and stalwart regulars to the business district, the Park and the community at large. It's what we do. Come join us. In costume!

Speaking of what we do--we have a new employee at the Chamber, Michelle Hippler, our new Membership and Programs manager. Michelle's experience in marketing local communities makes her a perfect part of our team at the Chamber. Michelle will be following up with all of you to find ways to promote our members and make our membership benefits even more robust. Welcome, Michelle!

PS - Michelle is very excited about Hilloween, though deathly afraid I will force her to come in costume as Madonna, circa 1986.

sincerely,
Michael Wells
