United Way of Fresno County was invited to the U.S. Department of the Treasury in Washington, D.C. on March 17^th and 18^th to share best practices from the successful Bank on Fresno Initiative.   Fresno was one of only seven cities from across the nation represented at this convening of Community Financial Access Pilot Programs and the only United Way.  UWFC presented the results of the initiative as well as best practices such as:  recording public service announcements in ten languages, and partnering with financial institutions and community based organizations to offer financial education classes for individuals seeking to strengthen their financial management skills.  The trip to Washington D.C. was sponsored by the Department of Treasury. It is our understanding that The Bank On California/Fresno Initiative work and outcomes will be presented to President Obama in the near future.
