The 2011 Rhode Island Kids Count Factbook was released on April 4th at the annual Rhode Island KIDS COUNT Factbook Breakfast. More than 500 leaders from across the state, including the Governor and the federal Congressional delegation, participated in the release event. View the photo gallery

Factbook Breakfast Keynote: Third Grade Reading Proficiency Matters

Ralf Smith Keynote

Ralph Smith, keynote speaker at the Factbook Breakfast, emphasized third grade reading proficiency as a critical public policy goal that requires investments from birth to third grade. Third grade reading proficiency is a strong predictor of high school completion and future success in the workforce.
