Nominations now being accepted for "Champions of Arts Education"
Advocacy Awards!

The March 1st deadline is fast approaching to get in your nomination of worthy individuals and organizations for Arts|Learning's annual recognition awards.  Click here for the nomination packet!

Membership in Arts|Learning is not required to nominate people and individuals; however our recognition program is only for Massachusetts.  (Please check out other state arts education alliances for their recognition programs on the Kennedy Center website).

Arts|Learning award categories include the following:
  1. Distinguished Arts Educator Advocates (dance, music, theatre, visual arts)
  2. Schools of Distinction in Arts Education
  3. Excellence in School Administration Arts Advocate
  4. Massachusetts School Committee Arts Advocate
  5. Outstanding Parent Advocate
  6. Outstanding Arts Collaborative
  7. Corporate/Business Support of Arts Education
  8. Outstanding Student Advocate

Each year awardees receive a handcrafted art object for the award.  This year Arts|Learning is pleased that ceramic artist Judith Motzkin will be providing the objects.  Additionally, Massachusetts state house members and senators for each awardee are notified, and often they provide an personalized citation of congratulations from their chamber of the Massachusetts legislature to many awardees.  All in all, this is a memorable occasion.

We look forward to receiving many nominations of worthy Massachusetts arts education advocates!
ARTS EDUCATION ADVOCACY DAY IN THE MASSACHUSETTS STATEHOUSE, MAY 26, 2010

Come hone your skills as an arts education advocate!

The morning of Wednesday, May 26, will be focused on arts education advocacy in the Massachusetts Statehouse.  Workshops will be presented that help participants learn about pending legislation, the Index of Creativity and Innovation, and how to advocate for arts education programs with local legislators.  Participants will have a 2-hour period to speak with their state house and senate members, and enjoy a delicious lunch.  The afternoon will conclude with the Arts|Learning Annual Recognition awards (please see above).

More detailed information will soon be sent to you in an upcoming Arts|Learning E-Newsletter.  Please join us for this special day, and mark your calendars!
We always enjoy hearing from our many friends and colleagues across the country.  If you have suggestions about how we can improve our services to you, please send us an email!

Sincerely,
