Preparing Your CV and Cover Letters
Curriculum Vitae means "Course of Life" and it, along with your cover letter, are your introduction to any potential employer - your first impression. Therefore, you want to make sure that you put together a professional representation of who you are and who you aspire to be. The CV is an outline of your career and accomplishments, and the cover letter is the opportunity to connect directly to the employer and separate yourself from others pursuing the same position.
Your cover letter is the invitation to the hiring institution to find out why you are the right candidate for their position, and should be tailored to each specific opportunity. Make sure that you always write the best cover letter you can and that your CV contains all the information needed to get you the interviews you want. The CV does not need to contain all the information needed to get you the job - it is an outline. The offer to meet or provide further information can be included in your cover letter.
Knowing the importance of both tools, MINK has put together information and tips to help you develop your CV and cover letter template needed to find you the right job. These resources can be found on the MINK MidwestMD website at www.midwestmd.org or by clicking on the topic below:
You can find valuable information and current job openings on the website, so we encourage you to visit www.midwestmd.org often! |
