The Inn at Osprey Point Helps Clean the World

First bed & breakfast on Maryland's Eastern Shore to select Clean the World to collect and recycle soap and guest amenities for distribution to needy children and families worldwide.

ROCK HALL, Md. and ORLANDO, Fla. - Jan. 21, 2011 - The Inn at Osprey Point (www.ospreypoint.com) is staking its claim as a hospitality industry leader in environmental awareness and improved health and hygiene by partnering with Clean the World to recycle soaps and shampoos at this picturesque bed & breakfast on Maryland's Eastern Shore along the Chesapeake Bay.

The Inn at Osprey Point selected Clean the World (www.cleantheworld.org), an Orlando, Fla.-based nonprofit organization, to collect and recycle soaps, shampoos, conditioners, lotions and gels to help fight the spread of preventable diseases around the world. With 15 rooms available year-round, The Inn at Osprey Point may not be the largest hotel property to join this growing "hygiene revolution" promoted by Clean the World, but its dedication to the mission dovetails well with the wholesome, family spirit displayed in the services and amenities provided at the Inn.

"Being so close to nature and its beauty, we have a certain appreciation and desire to do all we can to preserve it," says Terry Nelson, innkeeper at The Inn at Osprey Point. "We marvel at the good that can be done simply by recycling soaps, shampoos and lotions and distributing them to people who really need them most. Our contributions may be modest at the outset, but our commitment to the cause is strong, and it permeates all that we do for our guests and the greater, global community."

Clean the World is the largest global recycler of hotel amenities. In less than two years Clean the World has distributed more than 7 million bars of soap to children and families in the United States, Haiti and more than 40 countries worldwide. Included in this number are 1.5 million bars of soap sent to Haiti since the Jan. 2010 earthquake, with 300,000 soap bars delivered since an outbreak of cholera (diarrheal disease) in October.

In less than two years since its founding, Clean the World has partnered with more than 725 hotel properties in North America to provide soaps and bottled amenities to people in need. While doing so, Clean the World has also fulfilled a valuable environmental mission by diverting an estimated 550 tons of hotel waste from polluting landfills in the United States and Canada.

"Every little bit helps as we advance our hygiene revolution, and the contributions of The Inn at Osprey Point are welcome and greatly appreciated," says Shawn Seipler, executive director at Clean the World. "Each day, 9,000 children die from preventable diseases because they do not have access to soap for proper hand washing. Clean the World aims to change that and our hospitality partners throughout North America, large and small, are making a tremendous positive difference for children and families everywhere."

As a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization, Clean the World welcomes tax-deductible donations from people, corporations and organizations willing to offer support. Online donations may be made at the Clean the World website:  http://www.cleantheworld.org/donate-money.asp

About Clean the World
Clean the World is committed to reducing the waste created by discarded soap and shampoo products and collects these items from hotels to be recycled and distributed to domestic homeless shelters and impoverished people worldwide, helping to prevent deaths caused by hygiene-related illnesses. Clean the World Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit, 501(c) (3) tax-exempt charitable organization. For more information visit: http://www.cleantheworld.org. Text CLEAN to 20222 to donate $10 to help Clean the World.
