PlaneTree Presence in Central San Jose Again
We are pleased to announce that a grant from The Health Trust is supporting a collaboration between San Jose Public Library and PlaneTree to create a Community Health Information Center in downtown San Jose.
San Jose Public Library logo      The center will be located in the  delightful new Joyce Ellington Branch Library, which re-opens next month.
Health books and DVDs organized for easy browsing will be accessible to on-site patrons in the Community Health Information Center during all library open hours. The collection, which includes databases, will also be searchable online at www.sjlibrary.org.
New PlaneTree volunteers will provide one-on-one assistance to patrons at specified times. Experts on various health topics will give presentations in the library's community room.
Everyone is invited to San Jose Public Library's grand opening celebration for the Joyce Ellington Library on Saturday, June 28. Please come by the Community Health Information Center to help us celebrate.

Thinking of volunteering?
We will soon need individuals to volunteer at the new Center for three hours weekly. If you enjoy finding health information and like to help others, call PlaneTree at (408) 358-5667 about becoming a weekly PlaneTree volunteer at Joyce Ellington Library.

Judy Collins Lecture May 30; 10% off for Friends of PlaneTree

Cover of book titled "Sanity and Grace"

We remember Judy Collins' soaring voice, but her heart has been very low at times. After her son took his life in 1992, reading and writing brought her solace, eventually leading to the publication of Sanity and Grace: A Journey of Suicide, Survival and Strength. That book and her brand new title, The Seven T's: Finding Hope and Healing in the Wake of Tragedy are available at our library.
Judy Collins, 68, will be speaking at the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts on Friday evening, May 30. PlaneTree is delighted to offer a 10% discount on tickets. Call Events Unlimited at (877) 882-8124, 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and use the special code "Planetree."
Ms. Collins gave a moving keynote address at the 2006 national Planetree conference. You can learn more about how this remarkable woman is aging with grace in a new Bay Area magazine: eldr.
