New Accents Designer David Tishbi
"I believe we all deserve some luxury in our everyday lives, and luxury shouldn't mean unrealistic products at unaffordable prices. Luxury jewelry can be timeless and comfortable to wear and it should be enjoyed by all." -David Tishbi

The Differences Between Vermeil, Gold Filled and Gold Plated
What is the jewelry made of?
At ACCENTS our specialty is handmade jewelry in sterling silver, as well as solid 14 and 18 karat gold. We also carry
vermeil and gold filled, which are great options if you love the look of gold, but prefer the price of silver! Vermeil is solid sterling silver covered by layers of gold. We use 2.5 microns of 14k to 24k gold over the sterling silver, achieved by going over the silver multiple times with layers of gold. To care for vermeil properly, store in an airtight box or bag, keep away from chemicals and water and don't rub or polish, and it will retain its beauty for a long time. We guarantee our vermeil for 12 months with receipt. Gold Filled is also called 'gold overlay' or 'rolled gold' and consists of a mixture of metals mechanically bonded with a thick outside layer of 14k karat gold. It was produced for the industry to look and wear like 14k gold and can be polished to a shiny finish. The cost is a little higher than silver but a fraction of the price of solid 14k or 18k gold jewelry. Clean and store like you do your gold jewelry and it will last a long time. What we do NOT carry: Gold Plated consists of a very thin layer of gold applied to base metal, usually by electroplating. This is very prone to scratching, and is likely to wear off quickly exposing the non-precious material underneath. We at Accents consider this to be costume jewelry and do not represent designers that use this material.
