Smart Solutions For Water Conservation!
|
 |
Smart Faucet
|

Water conservation saves energy and reduces carbon emissions, which helps in the effort to stop global warming. By conserving water we can reduce the pressure on our lakes, reservoirs and sewage treatment facilities and serve more people.
According to Peter Gleick of the Pacific Institute, allowing hot water to run for just 5 minutes is the
equivalent of using as much energy as it takes to power a 60W light bulb for 14 hours. Also, did you know that eighty percent of the water coming out of your
faucets is wasted and goes down the drain
every time you turn on the water?
A spokesperson for the
Smart Faucet company estimates that 5,000+ gallons of water - per person - can be saved a year from the use of their product on just one
faucet. They also state that the faucet has antimicrobial properties
and is easy for children, the elderly and the physically challenged to
use. For more info, visit www.water-saver-faucet.com Watch youtube video demonstrations click here

Meet Lisa and Jeff Peri, founders of the Lucky Earth Waterless Carwash.
The couple began an enlightening educational journey when their daughter Kayla's health was threatened by environmental chemical sensitivities. They learned that most traditional cleaning products contained toxic chemicals with potentially serious side effects, and realized that a simple trip to a car wash was indeed a contributing factor to Kayla's breathing difficulties.
While doing research for non-toxic solutions in all areas of their life, they came across a car wash formula that was not only all natural and safe to use around their daughter, but safe for the environment too - a win, win, situation.
Did you know that a normal car wash averages about 120 gallons of water per wash? The good news is that Lucky Earth cleans, polishes & protects without using any water, or posing a health risk to humans, pets, or the environment!

ahhNatural |
As people become more aware of the health hazards associated with harsh chemicals on the skin, and environmental hazards associated with releasing chemically treated spa water into the environment, they have begun to seek out "green" alternatives.
AhhNatural was developed as a people safe, environmentally friendly alternative to commercial toxic chemical spa/hot tub sanitizers. Most traditional spa treatments use chemicals such as chlorine, bromine and guanide compounds, which are designed to kill unwanted organisms with periodic shocks. However, in the process these chemicals can also cause common side effects such as burning in the nose and throat, itching and drying of the skin, eye irritation and breathing difficulties. The ahhNatural system is designed to kill unwanted organisms 24/7, without exposure to these harmful chemical additives by utilizing a bag of naturally occurring minerals, supported by vitamin C and ancient sea salt (that naturally control bacteria and keep the water clear), while bringing back the age old true spa experience of natural mineral water - genuinely nourishing the body.
In 2002, advertising executive Jane Weeks was so impressed with the treatment system, she tracked down ahhNatural's inventor and acquired the rights to the product, and states, "I'm now working to make a difference - one hot tub at a time."

Non-Toxic Bug and Pest Control Methods!

Don't Bite Me! Patch
|
Depending on where you live, it is possible that your family may be affected by fleas, ticks and mosquitoes all year round. If unprepared, these uninvited biting
insects can truly ruin a good time.
Unfortunately, most of the commonly used
commercial bug repellent sprays contain DEET
(N,N-Diethyl-meta-toluamide), which may be effective in detouring the
pest, but also have been reported to cause negative side effects such
as eye and skin irritation, rashes, numb or burning lips, nausea,
headaches, dizziness, difficulty concentrating, as well as central nervous system problems - more frequently
reported in children than adults - ranging from slurred speech and
confusion, to seizures and coma.*
Fortunately, today there are
many non-toxic, safe and effective alternative products for protection
against these disease carrying pests. The Don't Bite Me Patch is one of
these natural solutions. The patch contains Vitamin B1, which is absorbed into the
bloodstream through the skin and distributed throughout the entire
body. The body's natural response to an excess of Vitamin B1 is to
excrete what it doesn't need back out through the skin's pores. This excretion causes an
almost imperceptible odor that naturally repels biting insects - hooray!

Greenbaby Gifts |
Meet Cynthia McGregor ... After the birth of Cynthia's first son she began researching how hazardous products used in the home impact children. She realized that most of us have been conditioned to consume without question, or take for granite that products are safe, whether it be toys, skin care or cleaning products. The more she learned about the hazards in her family's environment - toxic plasticizers in toys and pesticide residues in food, clothing, and linens, synthetic preservatives and harsh chemicals in bath and body products, the more she was inspired to make healthier lifestyles choices.
In early 2007 Cynthia decided to utilize some of her newfound knowledge by starting her own company, Greenbaby Gifts. She wanted to create safe gift sets for moms and babies, made with all natural and organic items. The gift sets come in conveniently packaged ready-to-give handmade gift bags and boxes, which are constructed from recycled chipboard and mulberry paper. The company also uses all eco-friendly shipping materials - including corn-derived, biodegradable packing peanuts.

Ecobutterfly Organics
|
Ecobutterfly is located in Los Angeles, California offering both retail and wholesale options - locally and nationally.
If
you are an avid knitter, you may, or may not know about the toxic
pesticides and chemicals that are used within the cotton industry.
Twenty-five percent of all pesticides used worldwide today are actually
applied to cotton crops. The EPA classifies nine of the top ten
pesticides used on cotton crops as Category I, or II chemicals, which
are ranked among the most dangerous chemicals registered.
As the current knitting craze continues to sweep the nation, it stands to
reason that you would want to use organic yarn and accessories, however
finding a store to meet your needs may not be as easy as you think. So
when we discovered Ecobutterfly, a member of Co-op America and the
Organic Trade Association, we knew that we wanted to share their
organic and sustainable yarns and accessories with all of you. The
store offers certified organic, color grown and veggie dyed, fair trade cotton yarns.
Thirty-year
veteran, and store owner Stephanie Schiff states, "My love for organics,
and years of learning from the best (my grandmother), was a perfect combination for
my knit shop's new path. I not only wanted to carry organic cotton
yarns and other natural items, but I wanted to make sure that I could
find sources for certified organics, as well as Fair Trade when
possible." To learn more visit www.ecobutterfly.com Receive free shipping with all phone orders by mentioning ECOFAMILY
