- New Letter from the Chairs: The
YLS steering committee has hit 2010 running -- making plans for upcoming events
and setting goals for the year ahead. We want to continue growing to raise
overall awareness of YLS in the community. Because of your support and enthusiasm, we accomplished much over the
past year. During the 2009-10 campaign, YLS has already raised an astounding $350,335 in contributions to United

"Volunteering at the emergency Winter Shelter was a great opportunity to be a small part of something very necessary
in our community. I got to hand out small sandwiches, snacks and
coffee to the guests. All of them looked tired and hungry. It was a chance for
me to help out with alleviating some of their fatigue and hunger."
"My experience at the
Winter Shelter was amazing. It was humbling to meet the people that are
surviving the homeless crisis that so many Columbians talk about or donate
money to, but never see first hand. I will continue to take opportunities to
volunteer in a "hands on" way, helping my neighbors through this
moment in their lives."
