Study Suggests Powerful Women Better Seen than Heard A trio of studies that examine gender, power, and volubility (talking time) revealed that powerful men talk more than powerful women, powerful women were hesitant to talk more for fear of backlash about being too domineering or controlling, and that their fears of backlash were warranted because they were judged differently. Powerful men who spoke more were judged as more suitable for leadership while the reverse was true for women. |

The Foodies Guide to Calcium The "got milk?" ad campaigns of the late 1990s were an effective strategy to get individuals to drink more milk. Boasting an average of 300mg of calcium per standard serving, a glass of milk has long been seen as a great way to obtain this mineral. But, don't forget the other options! This article hi-lights other calcium-rich foods - from leafy greens and nuts, fish.
Want to Gain Weight? Go on a Diet. In an effort to lose weight quickly, many individuals choose to "go on a diet". Yet, this approach may actually lead to weight gain according to recent research! It has been shown that when dieting there is a rise in hormones that stimulate appetite and a drop in those that suppress it. For sustainable and healthy weight loss, the best approach seems to be making incremental lifestyle changes. |
