Greetings!

Restaurant Week is almost here, and we're thrilled to be providing users some new tools to make the most of it.

As always, thanks for helping us spread the word.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE August 3, 2011

Just Keeps Getting Better

New Mobile Site Lets Diners Plan for Restaurant Week on the Go

Cambridge, MA . . . (August 3, 2011) Boston's semi-annual discount dining extravaganza is back, and with it a new and improved version of RestaurantWeekBoston.com. As it has been for the past several years, the BostonChefs.com guide to Restaurant Week is the most comprehensive and user-friendly available, with up-to-date menus and links to online reservations.

New this season are several features that make it even better:

  • A mobile version of the site that works beautifully on iPhones and Android smart phones alike.
  • New search functions that add cuisine type to the several different ways you can filter the list of more than 200 participating restaurants.
  • An improved design that makes it easier to get directions and parking information, find out which restaurants are T-accessible, and see at-a-glance which restaurants are offering their special prix fix menus on which days and during which meal periods.

"Last summer, over 160,000 people used the site, viewing menus of more than 200 restaurants over 1.2 million times," reports Paul Schiavone, CEO of BostonChefs.com. "And for those who follow us on Facebook and Twitter, we've become the source for menu updates and special offers, and a place to check in with other dining enthusiasts. We're psyched to be Boston's go-to guide for Restaurant Week."

screen shot of mobile RWB RestaurantWeekBoston is especially excited to launch a mobile version of the site (eatRWB.com). "Well over half of our users have web-capable mobile devices, and they use these devices to research their dining options," notes Chris Schiavone, the COO of BostonChefs.com and marketing research consultant to several national media companies. "Even without a mobile version of the site, a growing percentage of our visitors were finding us on their phones rather than at their computers. Our mobile site is simply a way of giving them a better user experience."

And, speaking of mobile, RestaurantWeekBoston.com has also teamed up with a new dining rewards program called RepeatReceipt. Diners who download the RepeatReceipt app to their iPhone or Android device just take and send a picture of their check from one of more than 100 participating restaurants and then get up to 20% of what they've just spent toward a future visit.

"But, in the end, it's all about the food," says Honor Lydon, the Executive Editor of BostonChefs.com. "Spend a few minutes browsing the menus, and you can't help but be impressed by the imagination of Boston's talented chefs. If you plan on ordering Barbara Lynch's Fried Oyster BLT for lunch at B&G Oysters, it will be hard to decide whether you want to start with the Lobster Beignets or the Steamed Mussels. And once you've settled on Paul O'Connell's Wood Grilled Veal Chop at Chez Henri, choosing between the Baba au Rhum and the Chocolate Boca Negra Cake could take some time." And lamb-loving locavores will be glad to see the return of "Which dish would ewe choose?" an interactive guide to the American lamb dishes featured in this Summer's Restaurant Week menus.

Summer Restaurant Week officially runs from August 14 to 19 and then from August 21 to 26, though several participating restaurants will be making their prix fixe menus available for some or all of the intervening weekends and beyond.

Where can you go to find out which ones? RestaurantWeekBoston.com, naturally!
