Reflexology Research Project
The Reflexology Path Kit
Greetings!
It's called a
reflexology therapy promenade
in
Japan
, a
barefoot shiatsu course in South Korea
(
more info
), and
a reflexology path in Malaysia
(
more Malaysian paths
) New facts and photos bring to light today's uses of the ancient tradition in these countries while controversy tells the tale when
East and West view the reflexology path
.
Research demonstrates the healthful nature of this "
fashionable fitness activity
" as the practice is seen in China. A Chinese reflexology mat-used in Chinese homes when it rains outside-
has been tested in the U. S. and found to lessen blood pressure, pain and fear of falls for seniors.
Other studies have found mat stepping to increase blood and nerve circulation to the feet and hands. The Japanese tradition of
takefumi (bamboo stepping)
has been shown to normalize blood pressure (reduce high blood pressure; increase low blood pressure) and to bring relief from pain and health problems such as constipation and insomnia. For chemotherapy patients, research shows takefumi use lessens nausea and vomiting.
