Legislative Victory for Reflexologists In Pennsylvania
|
An exemption for reflexologists
is included in Pennsylvania's newly enacted massage law. The exemption is notable for many reasons, chief among them the heroic efforts of reflexologist Jonna Boyd. Certainly all reflexologists are to be applauded for their efforts in legislatures and city councils across the country, but none has persevered like Jonna. She worked single-handedly for sixteen years to shepherd through the exemption. All the more remarkable: reflexology is the only specifically named exempted practice.
The ability for reflexologists to continue their professional practices in such a large state is a major victory. The state is the nation's sixth largest with a population of 12 million. Signed into law by the Governor Rendel on October 9, 2008, the law will be put into place in 2009.
