Greetings!
I'm pleased to be able to share so much exciting news this month. Just last week DCI held our annual members meeting. The meeting included a review of 2008 accomplishments, a 2009 vision plan, and the introduction of the 2009 board nominees.
We also held the first 2009 Downtown Institute: Designing Downtown in Castle Rock, which featured historic preservationist Scott Day. Don't miss out on our next Downtown Institute: Organization and Management in Montrose on April 24. Check out our below events calendar or register here for the Downtown Institute today.
DCI extends congratulations to Main Street Communities Greeley and Steamboat Springs for their selection as New Energy Communities. Both cities will receive a state grant to implement energy-efficient projects to create greener downtowns. Read more details in the below article and learn how your community can apply in the future.
Lake City DIRT was recently awarded a $20,000 Preserve America grant by Preserve America, a federal administration initiative to support community efforts to preserve cultural and natural heritage. It's thrilling to see so many of our members' hard work be rewarded!
DCI recently made Resource Team visits to Brush, Lake City, and Berthoud. Our technical assistance team revealed a number of opportunities and action to meet the towns' needs. Both team and community members were pleased with the outcome. To learn more about how our CRP services can help your community, visit our website or call us at 303-282-0625.
Happy February!

DCI's Main Street Resource Team Visit Identifies Action Steps for Lake City
Resource Team Visit
Valuable to Lake City
After an intensive two-day evaluation of Lake City, DCI's Resource Team zeroed in on Lake City's unique downtown attributes to identify opportunities as well as action steps.
The 6-member CRP team of downtown management and economic development experts worked with community and business leaders, as well as residents, to assess the city's needs and goals.
"This visit gave us an opportunity to review all that's been done and all where we may go," said Marian Hollingsworth. "The chance to look at the program with consultants and an objective view is so valuable."
The Colorado Main Street Program and Resource Team visits are administered by Downtown Colorado, Inc. and partially sponsored by State Historical Fund and Department of Local Affairs.
To learn more about Colorado Main Street Program benefits, visit our website or call DCI at 303-282-0625.
